French was one my favorite civ before BNW. It was one of the only civ wich you could hold a large number of city and still be able to grab a lot of policie early in the games.
Now France have a all new bonus. With the new bonus, ICS and domination are not really the way to go. Mass spam museum? Really? I sound hard to do. Maybe running a large pupet might be good with the chateau but it still harder to do without the foreign legion.

The city of light, Paris. French is not anymore an empire. It a small country running around a big city. Paris must be a THE cultural city of the world.

Capital placement :
Make sure you have enough open space on land. The "château" need a lot of space to be usefull. You might need a river for the garden, if you don't hanging garden are even more important.
Gold/Silver Encen/wine would be really usefull if you get a pantheon. Marble are great.

Build order :
Scout-Scout-Shrine(or another scout)-monument-Granary-worker-librairie-Settler-

Get the worker first if you don't have weath/deer/bananas. You might want to get a caravan before this point but i don't recommand it unleast the AI Settle next to your capital.
If you get marble and stone, i tend to make the mausoleum. 100 gold for each great person is great during the renaissance.
Hanging garden is a plus, it would help to grow a really large paris. If you don't have access to a river get it.

Policie :
Tradition : Just make sure to get +15% wonder building before you first wonder.

Tech :
Pottery, animal, mining, Writing, luxury tech, (Hanging garden if you try it), Philo, Drama, admin, guild, chivalery, education, printing press,

Religion :
Cathedral and the tourism bonus(the ai would never get this one) If you don't get cathedral take the production bonus.
If you get a extra prophet settle it down next to your second city for the extra faith. You might need it for great person in the late games.
Don't worry if you get pressurise, religion are not that important in that strategie.

Wonder:
Mausoleum(if marble), hanging(if possible), oracle, Hagia (i even use it to found a religion), sistine,

Late games :
You want to get many wonder as possible. Printing press wonder are hard to get but usefull. Priorise wonder with great work. Open discovery for the louvre, it worth it.

Egality is going to be your best friend. Your culture will start to really kick at this point and you won't have any problem to take all the policie you need.

It seam to work whell but my games crash before i win. I saw some nation force to switch egality because of the rebellion. I'm not really sure i could win against Siam.

It's always better to make sure to rush to Landed Elite before taking Aristocracy. It gives +2 food and 15% growth, which means as long as you work a tile with more than 1 production you're probably better off than taking aristocracy first.

I usually go Tradition, then I start filling in Aesthetics, and may even finish it if I have enough tourism in my capital, but usually Rationalism is the better choice once you hit the Renaissance Era.

Standard rush to Education -> Acoustics (for sistine, Renaissance opener) -> Archaeology.

Cathedral doesn't do anything for the French, because as you're Wonder-spamming you will have a surplus of slots that you don't want to be filling with Artifacts.

If you found a Religion (not a given), I think the best way to go is Religious Community right away, as you always spend a LOT of time building Wonders in your cap.
