Hi I'm new to CIV IV I just got it because I just got my new computer and now I can play it instead of CIV 3 
. I would post this in the "I'm a newbie and don't know how to play the game section," but it seems like a glitch and was just wondering if anyone had the same problem or knows what I'm doing wrong.
So here's the problem:
I have my first siege unit, I think it's called a catapult. I've read online that they cannot attack other units "in the field." I know, however, that the computer has bombarded my stack of units that come toward his cities(hitting every unit in the stack and damaging them severely). My question is, when enemies come within one square of my city, bombard doesn't appear on the list of things I can do with the catapult. The only thing I can do is try to "go" to the square the enemy is on, usually with disastrous results. How can I bombard his units?
I also read in the civilopedia that you can weaken an enemies defense with siege units. Again, when I put my catapult next to an enemy's city it doesn't add any special "Bombard" or "Weaken Defense" button to the siege unit. Am I missing something? Is there something I have to tech? I'm really at a loss because it was pretty straightforward in CIV 3(Bombard Button), and I'm getting bombarded by the enemy computers and can't bombard back and it's ruining the gameplay.
