How does borrowing gold work in Civ 3? Every now and then you have the option to lend some money off another Civilization. However, I've never witnessed how it works - they never seem to have enough!

How exactly can you lend THEM money? And when do these options appear, etc.?

Give them a lump sum of Gold, in exchange for Gold per turn 20 Gold in a lump sum is worth more than 1Gpt though, normally it is ~14 Gold for 1 Gpt.

That is basically how it works, just a lump sum in exchange for Gold per turn. I'm not sure in what circumstances it appears in the menu (probably to do with attitude), but you can do it in the normal diplomacy screen anyways --- by just reqeuesting a lump sum, for Gold per turn.

IIRC, these options appear once you have established an embassy with a foreign civ.
