From 1AD I managed to keep a tech lead through intense trading. Oxford was in place by 740AD and then I was first to liberalism in 780AD and took nationalism. Didn't want to risk it for something bigger.
Teched up to cuirs and was finally ready to take my revenge on Joao in 1100AD. By 1250AD had the whole continent under control and signed peace. Left Joao with his island cities without vassaling him, as I wanted to get rid of him later to eliminate motherland yearning. Meanwhile got to rifles for cavs, then quickly to the key techs of communism and biology. Shipped the whole veteran army over to Sury who never had expanded beyond two cities. Took those with the Great Lighthouse in 2 turns around 1440AD. By then the other AIs but Joao had gotten to rifles, so continuing the cav onslaught looked dubious without further support.
I remembered about Duckweed's recipe of bombers + cavs so decided to go that way as soon as I could. While teching up to radio and flight finished of the Portuguese as a side dish by 1530AD. Joao however managed to bribe Bismarck against me. The fortunate side effect of that was that I could bribe Ragnar on Bismarck. Ragnar had been at war with Joao forever and as Joao finally was killed by me seemingly was itching for another fight. Thanks to mutual war against Joao the Vikings were pretty pleased with me, which was good as even with my veteran cav army I only had 0.5 power on him.
By 1600AD I had learned how to bomb and by 1630AD was ready to declare on my close pal WvO while signing peace with Biz simultaneously. By 1655AD I had conquered his core three cities and vassaled him. By now Sal, Biz and Ragnar were fielding infantry. However, I got the new toy of tanks which were flown over in the masses to the other continent. Who needs control over the seas if you control the air.
In 1685AD declared on Sal and vassaled him by 1720AD when he was removed from his continent and confined to the island to his initial NW. Was closing in on domination at this point but was still a bit short on the land limit, so declared on Bismarck immediately. Rolled over him pleasantly when he vassaled to Ragnar with whom he was still at war, although he hadn't lost a city to him yet. Some percentage points short had to declare finally on Ragnar who still had superior power despite all my tanks and bombers.

Hesitated a bit with declaring as I feared losing thinly defended coastal cities on the home continent, so didn't declare until 1745AD. However, Ragnar only showed up with destroyers to pillage some fishing nets and bomb defenses, but never saw any attack units. Maybe that's why he never made a real dent in Joao or Bismarck either.
Anyway, rolled over the rest of Germany and had former Arab cities coming out of revolt to hit domination in 1760AD when Bismarck was left with 1 city.
Score was 228k. I guess 1760AD is not a particularly fast win, but it was a very fun and satisfying game. Also nice to be playing around with a bit more advanced units than usual. Of course the starting conditions were very favourable with the extra great people, the great starting spot and land to expand into, but still, I think it's only my 2nd or 3rd military win on deity, so quite pleased with it. Thanks Deckhand for the game!
