Settled in place, started with 2 workers before growing, went for Mining-BW (chop settlers)-Fishing-Hunting-AH. Settled 2nd city for corn/copper/ivory cluster to the east, 3rd city on fish NE of cap, 4th city on western peninsula between clam and gems, and 5th city (around 900 BC) as a helper city between cow and ivory east of capital, while researching to Alphabet. Focused on improving the flat grass tiles with cottages, with a few mines for wonder building.

Then, with 4 of 5 cities on the coast, decided to research Sailing->Masonry and build Great Lighthouse in capital (750 BC). Meanwhile got IW in trade, so I started settling the jungle rivers between me and Kublai. Surprisingly no iron anywhere nearby.

(In hindsight, I suppose a early Vulture rush to get the Mongol capital might have been good on this map. But we're not lacking for land to develop in our own mountain-secluded starting area.)

Did a late play for Oracle in city 2 to get Currency in 575 BC (didn't dare to try Oracle->CS). Afterwards got Calendar (so many Calendar resources!) before going for the Literature->Music line. Mausoleum was built in 75 BC and Great Library is 4 turns from finishing; Civil Service is also 4 turns away, would be a good time to start a golden age with the Music artist after that.

8 cities and 43 pop, settled the last 2 cities for pig-horse and banana-river spots in the southern jungle, almost at Boudica's borders. Have space for 2-3 filler cities within the land to work more cottages.

I have a Great Scientist and could use it for Philosophy before the golden age, but I don't have enough religion spread for Pacifism... I could delay a bit for a stronger golden age, or just save that GS and get another ASAP for Education (skipping Philo for now) and rushing Muskets. They get a small boost from PRO and I expect to be facing little more than archers and swords for a while (Monty was first to Monarchy in 75 BC among the 5 AIs I met). I would still go for Philo-Nationalism (Taj golden age) after that and maybe pivot to Cuirs if I find some iron, otherwise make my way to Rifling.

@Antimoy it sounds like you are cruising... why race thru a good thing? Show some culture, some astounding diplomacy, or spread the faith maybe? Make your fun last a long time? Or just kill them all? :ar15: Sounds like you have the spirit of the games no matter what you decide.:hatsoff:

Fun game so far, but I highly doubt I can finish it, as the map seems big and I'll be going on holidays on Monday until after the submission date. I'll go and see Huayna Capac's actual ruins, so at least I'll be thinking of civ every now and then. :D

As for the game, I can confirm antimony's hunch that vulture rushing the mongols may be a good idea. I was lucky to identify his iron source so I could occupy and destroy it upon declaring, I seem to recall vultures do fairly badly against regular axes. Now he didn't have many and I could get his 3 cities easily. At 1AD I'm at 13 cities and 56 pop. The Russains beat me to the Great Lighthouse, but I did Oracle currency too and got the Pyramids, and as I write this I recall I didn't get rep yet. MoM is nearly done and Hanging Gardens are under way too. No CoL yet, didn't prioritise it much as I started on some ziggurats wiith priesthood, so CS further away still. However, shortly from now I should be able to build some wealth to steam through that. Two unknown civs, starting to suspect the mapmaker hid them somewhere, though possibly just behind Japan. ;)

A slow start again for me, without any early wars. At 1 AD, I have 7 cities and I've just completed the Colossus, having finished the GLH in 950 BC. Someone else built the Oracle in 925 BC, before I even started it.

Boudica is plotting. I presume Monty is her target, having the worst relations with her.
