The starting Q found the second sheep, so I settled 1W. That was also the only useful thing the Q did, as it died on encountering the first animal. Unfortunately, the second Q thought this self sacrifice rather impressive, so it also died upon meeting the first animal it saw. This rather hampered my exploration and fog busting capabilities, so by the ADs I was found by the Romans and Indians, but I still haven't explored beyond the southern jungle belt where they must live. Also, the lack of fog busting units and rather early roaming spears close to the borders made me go for the Great Wall early, even before the stone was connected. With the amount of barbs running around I think that was a wise decision. Especially to the north those barb spears kept their presence continuously, so without metal within the early realm, it was a bit difficult to settle in that direction easily. So, I first settled east (pig/horse and corn/fish), then west (stone/sheep/gem) and then a couple of cities at the flood plains to the south and started spamming cottages. Eventually, at the expense of a chariot and an archer, I could get some settlers past to the north for the metals, the marble and the furs, so I'm at 9 cities although pop is a bit limited at 33, but growing well now. That's partly due to building the mids and the Oracle, the southern neighbours were friendly enough to trade priesthood to me before it was built. I took CoL from it. After the initial worker techs, I did go alpha early, which was quite worth it as I got a number of early techs in trade. Tech wise I'm at CoL, Currency and Metal Casting, I wanted triremes to protect my sea food and of course cheap forges. I'm about half way to Civil Service.

My game was a lot like @nocho 's.
I also settled 1W after spotting the 2nd sheep, and lost 2 quechuas early to barb animals (both at 70% winning odds).
Took that as a warning signal and built TGW @1575BC. I even settled city3 on top of stone to speed it up.
Since we had stone and are IND I also built SH (1100BC). Got Oracle in 1050BC and took MC, mainly for the cheap forges which would get us +2:) as we had gold and gems.
Techwise we are up to CS, Currency, Monarchy and are 4t away from Machinery.
At 10AD we have 8 cities and 42 pop (Capital at size 10), running a Golden Age from our GSpy, having converted to Confu and also HR, Bureau, Slavery and OrgRel. Did not want to waste 4 turns in anarchy.
Fun fact, a barb city popped on the Copper to our NW and it is being guarded by 3 axemen instead of archers, never seen that before. Seems a task for my chariots.
With this leader and marble/stone around, a cultural game seemed possible. But I'll definitely go for a space race, just to compare my finish date with my original attempt from 20 years ago. If I can't beat that after all those years playing, most likely I am getting senile :old::lol:
