BOTM05 Final Spoiler

Well I managed a victory. I got Joao to invade China and they kept each other busy whilst I rolled over the Incas. Then the bulk of my forces arived on Mao's doorstep and flattened him. Managed to capture his palace a 6 turns or so after he launched. Then rampaged around for a while till all the unrest died down.

Won a domination victory in 2001, only the Portuguese and the Native Americans left standing.

Well this was my first game of the month, and I really enjoyed it. It also happens to be my first Beyond the sword game (bar some mucking about with it).

When i'd taken the capital and they were weak they became Montezumas vassal, along with the Incans.

Maybe you would have preferred them to vassalize to you instead. If you have Feudalism and you are winning a war, it is a good idea to speak to your enemy from time to time, to check if he would capitulate.

(One question. I wanted to use a great general to get the xp on a unit to build w.point. But accidentally gave the xp to everything in the stack. I reloaded to correct the mistake. Would this disqualify me? )

I'm afraid that is not allowed. In the BOTM competition you have to learn to live with your mistakes. No replaying anything at all is the rule.

Yes, you would be disqualified! Reloading is not allowed in xOTM-games (or HOF-games)!

Thanks for all the response, this games been a good learning experience. Both for BOTS and the GOTM rules.


Understand the whole rule breaking thing. My excuse for the great general gaff was that it was my first ever one (Oliver Cromwell oh yeah). As for the final spoiler, I thought it was safe to read it at that point. Is there going to be anything in anyones post that will contain any spoilers for someone that close to the end of the game? (If there were I completely missed them). I'm a good sport, cheating in Civ just isn't cricket
