Bring them back I say but improve on them, add more animations, get rid of Elvis and make the science advisor look and sound less geeky and look and sound more like a wise old man. Also have culture groups affect what they look like. I hate how when I play as Japan and only one advisor actually looks Japanese, it makes it feel less authentic in a way.

I hope they don't. The video clips were not neccessary and made the game slower. I would rather them improve the gameplay and other elements then worthless mush

Certainly gameplay is the most important improvement to any game, but it's the little extras that add polish and professionalism. If you think about it even graphics aren't necessary for gameplay since it all boils down to data structures, but they sure make the game a lot more fun.

I think they should be brought back but be made funnier and have far more animations. I didn't play civ 2 much as I got into i and civ 3 came out. But the military advisor getting druck coming on singing just to tell you there were no problems made the game funny. Whether you have played Baldur's gate 2 throne of Bhall I don't know but Cespenar's comments for me and many others I know made the game more worthwhile. Characters in games that are funny and have many funny tales or comments make the game more enjoyable. But only if there are loads of them. Jan in BG2 gets boring very soon as his comments keep being repeated.

So in conclusion bring em back but more and funnier responses.

I beleive the real quote is,

"It's only funny, 'til someone gets hut, and then it's just hilarious"

And the advisors, I could easily do without.

I would like to have the council in Civ 4, but it could be done with computer-animated graphics instead. I guess that would be easier and open more possibilities.

I've missed the high council but I can live without it. I say if they bring it back it has to made better than in civ2, else it would be waste of time.

I vote bring it back.

I don't want them to waste time on this. Leave it available as a mod option perhaps, but have the main programmers spend their time on the important stuff.

I've never played Civ2, but it would depend on how they implement it.

I can, however, think of several games where humopr livened up a game a lot (like Starcraft. Hilarious lines, especially in Brood War. "Hey, I'm practically the Queen b**** of the universe. Hehehe...) Anyway, it would really depend on exactly how they implement it.

yea!!! best idea ive heard yet! so long as they have more opinions to annoy you a bit less and get rid of that prick money man person he really got on me tits :D

WHile we're on the subject lets pretend it's possible for some of our advisors to actually BE HAPPY. *cough*Trade Advisor*cough*

@bob rulz
"Anyone need any propane or... propane accessories?"

Of course the greatest phrase was one that wasnt even funny. "Today is a good day to die!"

I agree... besides having an Elvis Impersenator just made the game seem immature and dumb

Heresy! The King damn well better make an appearance in Civ4! No more of those stupid Britney entertainers!

The great entertainer............Out of place?? :p

I agree it isn't priority, but i'm sure its more valuable than a flashy intro animation...

They seemed more in touch than my dum.....bass advisors with 3 animations now.....

I think it’s important to get feed back when you play a game; the High Council was a fun way to do it. Yes, bring back the High Council.

If the High Council doesn't have an Elvis impersonator I don't want it.

"I don't wanna be steppin' on your blue suede shoes, Sir, but an empire without luxuries, it's like a hound dog without a bone....not happy."

"Our men need better weapons noble leader, that they may sheath their swords in the beating hearts of our enemies!!!!"

Bring it back. You could always turn it off if you didn't like it.

It gets lonely playing civ hours and hours on end. It's nice to have someone talk to you -even if its only a council video clip. It feels like your not the only one who is building this great empire - but rather a team effort.

"Replace Elvis - please, unless he can actually get to sing a few of his songs in the game.
