For some time I searched for a way to browse thumbnails inside an entire folder of dds files with no luck. This is an Image Viewer/Browser/(batch)Converter/among other things. It has native DDS support and I use it for years as a default image viewer on my system, moving on from IrfanView - which I think is less intuitive, but powerful too (some people say XnView is a modified copy of Irfanview, I really don't know nothing about it.)

Download and info at http://www.xnview.com (Win All/Mac and Linux betas, Freeware)

If you know any other way of browsing DDS files please share :)

wirapuru thanks for this info, but I must know how you managed to unpack the fpk files?

please please tell me !!!! I'm stuck making my mod.... I have tried to use several different fpk unpackers but they don't work ... which one did you use?

santino6 you can only extract civ V fpk with Nexus so far. Fire up Civ V SDK, then Nexus Tool. Inside Nexus go to Nexus tab (yep I guess they lacked creativity) > Script Browser, there you'll have an Extract PAK (fpk) files to run. The files will be extracted under your ..{civ V steam folder}/resource/ subfolders.

Note: be sure you have enough free disk space (around 1.25gb) and permissions (this probably won't be an issue). If you have any problems about "Asset paths" erros popping out go to this thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=385031

I guess I know what you've been trough :D:D:D

Irfanview doesn't work well for you? I've been using it for years and I have no issues with it.

Not that, I used Irfanview as main main media viewer for much time here (I guess until pre-4.0) but as I discovered XnView I thought it has a better and intuitive interface, great formats support and with tools I'm already used to now.

I'll try Irfanview again later to see what it has been bringing on =)

yea, I think now it has a separate thumbnail viewer or something... Its been awhile since I installed it but all my dds's show up as thumbs. Either way as long as it makes things easier ;)
