Does anybody have Bryce 6? Because I've got a obp file that I made in Bryce 5.5 (out of imported Poser files) that I want to get into Poser as an obj, and that can't be done in Bryce 5.5. So, I'd really appreciate it if anyone would be willing to convert it for me, as I've done some searching and it's apparently possible to do that in Bryce 6.
Thanks,
georgestow.

Bryce6 (at least my copy of it) has some problem exporting complicated objects. I tried with no success to export my hagia sophia as an obj or some other format, but only a very small part of it got transported. So i cannot help :(

Is it only really complicated that you have trouble with? Because it isn't very complicated.

I've looked around, and seems it may be possible only in certain circumstances for Bryce or even Bryce 6 to achieve this:

Perhaps give it try Varwnos, you never know, it may work. Shouldn't take too long to do a quick load and export :)

Bryce 5.5 can only export terrains, rocks, symmetrical lattices, and imported meshes. Do this by going into the object's Edit window, whether it be the Terrain editor for terrains/lattices, or the Edit Mesh window for imported meshes/rocks. Type Command + D and an exporting window will pop up.

Bryce 6 can export those noted above plus primitives/boolean groups if and only if, every primitive has either a positive, negative, or intersecting property. In this case if you do everything correctly you would select File→Export Object. I do not own Bryce 6 only 5.5 and so this is just information gathered from perusing the forums. I am sure somebody else who does own version 6 can explain it much better than I can.

I don't know of any converters but Bryce itself can export booleaned primitives, meshes and terrain in most common 3D formats, including obj and 3ds.

Load up the the obp in Bryce. (I think you have to put the obp into Bryce's preset library before you can load it.)

If it's a terrain object you can simply go to file -> export. If it's a mesh or stone/rock object then hit the E button to bring up the mesh smooth dialog. Now hit control/command + D and a "save as" dialog should appear. If the obp is made from booleaned primitives then hit the C button to convert it to a mesh. Then go to File -> Export. (This only works with Bryce 6).

Preset objects created from metaballs or trees or non-booleaned primitves can't be exported as far as I know.

I wouldnt trust Bryce to correctly export anything. I tried with something less complicated once, a wall with some other things on it, but only the main wall got to the final file. So i guess it is an issue with Bryce in general, or the one i have..

What can I use make props for poser in? Because I can't seem to do it in poser very well. Or, can someone make/find me a sickle-sword?

Have you taken a look at Blender? It's open-source. Meaning it's free, there's a substantial community for support, & people continue to improve it & create plugins. It can import/export obj. It also handles 3ds files, although I have not yet done so.

I might be able to help you. Is the file large? You could send it to me and I could do a few things with it. my name at yahoo.

I finally managed to find(almost) what I wanted on the internet, so I currently don't need the help. However, I appreciate the offer and will take you up on it(if you'd still be willing) in the future, for any props I can't find.
Thank-you.
