Hi, I was going through Wyrmshadow's tutorial on how to make units in Bryce 5.5, and I've hit a bit of a snag.
When I attempt to import the template file, Bryce refuses to even see it.
I can, however, just open it up normally, just like any of my models.

I've followed the tutorial perfectly up to that point, so could someone please explain what I've done wrong?:(

What is the file(s) name ? What file extension have it ? Is it a .RAR or .ZIP ?
Can you give me a screenshot from the folder where the file is in ?
Have you used the "display all file types" in the file requester ,while trying to load it ?

standard one for byrce models "byrce 5.5 scene".
brycescreenshotfortemplate.jpg

yes.

i can open any of them, i can't import them though.

Are you sure Bryce can handle (import) such files at all ?

Sorry ,I can not check back on my machine. I have installed the latest versions of POV-Ray ,Moray ,DAZ Studio ,OpenFX and Blender. I wanted to install Bryce5.5 but in the install process it has ask me for a register-key. (I hate registering everywhere)

i want to import it because thats what the tutorial said to do. :/
as for the serial number, that's easy, register, tell 'em not to email you for any reason. :)
half the time i forget i even have one. :)

You OPEN Bryce files.
You IMPORT models.

Or if you can't do that just drag and drop it into the program from your file manager.

This is why you FAIL @ life, you can't use your computer properly so you pester me for an entire day, even after I told you to leave me alone. Then you go and call your mommy on me.

WOW, that has to be a first. Has anyone ever actually told their mom on you before? I would be embarrased if I was that guy.

I don't think many people here realize that some of the people on these forums are, in fact, kids!

Of course that does not excuse them from following rules of common courtesy and politeness, but it certainly explains to me why our little Lord Drake had such problems importing a Bryce scene into Bryce: The blissful ignorance of youth.

I say, that this will probably serve as a little life's lesson to kids like him: If it at first it won't work, try different things, use your noggin, try to figure it out - before you ask for help. Then, when it still doesn't work and you ask for help, at least you're asking an educated question, which will likely yield a much more helpful response. :)

Oh, he caught me on a really bad day.. as I had just paid $900 on a car repair bill. Then when I took a look at my file, I saw there was nothing at all wrong with it, just that he has no idea how to use his computer. Only then did I get annoyed. But it continued on for the entire day. Granted I refused to tell him what was wrong, because then he wouldn't learn anything if poeple just gave him the answers.
And I suspect that his profile listed age of 16 is a lie.. as no 16 year old male would go run to his mommy with netiqet problems.

no 16 year old male would go run to his mommy with netiqet problems.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. I've seen a few guys that are much older that can't seem to make decisions for themselves without mommy being right there. "WTH man you're 26 years old and your mom still tells you what to do!?" I once knew this guy that I went to high school with, he was this morbidly obese kid. He would talk a lot of smack and when you came over to slap the crap out of him, he would run to the nearest teacher. If there are 40 year old virgins that still live with their parents, then this guy could be 16. This only makes his situation worse though.

Yup, guilty as charged. That's all me right there.
You honestly think you're the ONLY one that has come to me with nonsesical problems like that? There have been many, many others that have come to me, and either wasted my complete time, or ran off with my models never to be seen again.

You think that you're the only person in the world I've been a jerk to? Wrong. It comes from many years of myself being jerked around and being taken advantage of, mostly by the completely ignorant. Poeple KNOW not to come to me with their simple problems, I have a big fat warning written in my profile, along with all the deleted nonesense others have left as messages.

You are on my ignore list, and have been since Saturday. I don't want to see or hear from you ever again. Don't even mention me when you post, don't post in my threads.

Moderator Action: Warning to all: if you want to discuss the age of posters and the mommy - kid relationship, open a thread in off topic. I don't see what it brings to the modding community here.

Moderator Action: I see that appropriate sanctions have been handed out. Being the smartest, handsomest, most talented kid in kindergarten still means you're in kindergarten. Hopefully everyone will demonstrate the maturity they are capable of at this point, and into the future. "Show me, don't tell me".

Reminder to all: Report posts, don't make things worse by responding in kind. Continuing on after your misbehavior has been responded to officially only results in more severe penalties. Further more, public discussion of moderator action is not allowed. If you disagree with something done PM the moderator, or take it up privately with the administration team.

Now, let this thread be about answering the original post. Hate to see it closed.

Edit
: X-post with Steph. Get the point?

I guess this thread is dead and the question was answered: Just open as described, that should work.
