HELP!! I love Civ IV BTS, but have become increasingly frustrated and puzzled with these crashes.

A few months ago, I got a new PC (with XP) and re-installed CIV and everything was great. THEN, I upgraded to Win7 and the trouble started. I get Blue Screen of Death crashes. I did follow the recommended driver updates when I installed Win7. I uninstalled and reinstalled CIV IV and patched to current.

One thing to note... As the game starts, windows reports that the "color scheme" has been changed to windows 7 basic - that certain elements of the game are incompatable with windows 7.

I can play anywhere from zero to 100 turns before it crashes.

It's crashed at startup.
I prefer to play large maps, but it has crashed with large and standard maps.
It does not seem to matter if I play custom games or just "play now"

I can play anwhere from just a few turns to a LOT!! (50-100 turns or more) before it crashes.

I do not recall the last time I played a complete game. I never complete a game in one sitting, but save and come back a day or two later. But I have gone for many turns without a crash. But somewhere along the way, It WILL crash.

Typically, there is a buzzing sound coming from the speakers before the crash.

When the Blue Screen comes up, there is a TON of information and it rather quickly goes away before I can read it.

When windows starts back up, it looks for solutions, but has not found anythng of yet.

HELP!! Any ideas??

Ok... Where do I go from here?? There were a number (maybe 10) events from abouit the time of the last crash. What info from it would be helpful?

difficult to say - best would be to just post all of them (copy them into a text file and post that here) - but probably something about recovery or fatal error or the like...
Note that I am in the midst of moving so my response time is currently rather longish...
