Today I downloaded the Beyond the Sword demo from ActionTrip (link on the front page), and tried to start it up. The opening movies played fine, but when it transitioned to the main menu it crashed with this error:

Python Exception said:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>" line 1, in ?
Import Error: No module named Archipelago.

So I clicked the OK, and another error popped up, with the common red "X" icon on the left side:

X said:
Failed to load python modul Archipelago.

Given the first error, that one made enough sense. I clicked OK, and it proceeded to give the same error with the names of all the different maps. OK, I thought, they forgot to disable the usual maps for Final Frontier. But after it got through all the map types, it started over again at archipelago. No matter how many times I went through, I always got these errors.

I couldn't get a screenshot because I couldn't start any programs while these errors were occuring; only logging off allowed me to terminate the demo and end the errors.

The errors happened again after I logged back on. I haven't tried restarting since I downloaded the demo, but I think this is a coding issue.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

edit: Just realized there is a Beyond the Sword bug report sub-forum - maybe this ought to be moved there?

:bump:

Anyone have any idea what's happening. I've restarted now, and the problem is still there and acting just as it had before.

Downloading the Charlemagne demo from FileFront now and will see if that works, always used to download scenarios from FileFront before I joined CFC and never had any problems.

But I really want to try Final Frontier!

edit: Charlemagne demo working. For some reason the load screen says CivIV Warlords, though. Oh well, never would've known what it looked like if it hadn't.
