BTS Install problem

I have upgraded to BTS, unfortunately, when I try to install the game, I click the icon and it comes up. Then I click Next to get it started and when I do this it disappears and I can do nothing. What can I do?

is this xp or vista?
is Civ4 patched to 1.74?
are you running this as administrator?

XP and yes I have updated it to 1.74. Not sure about administrator

in XP if this is the only account on your machine its probably the admin account.
now:
please open the windows event manager and note the newest error message - then try to install BtS and after that fails open the windows event manager again and post any new error messages here

Nothing pops up into the event viewer when I do this. Very frustrating

is there anything else running in the background? e.g. an antivir program?
one thing that *could* be the problem is that BtS tries to update directx on your machine - and fails. You could try updating that manually from the link below.
