BTS patches don't recognize my game

I have version 3.1.3.1, or what I assume is 3.13. - When I tried to patch it to 3.17, a window popped up and says: "The setup has detected that no version of Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Beyond The Sword is installed". I just reinstalled it! Anyway, now when I try to run BTS it either says WSOCK32.dll cannot be found... which is what I reinstalled it for, it fixed it... or that it just failed to initialize or something.

I suspect D2D (Direct2Drive) is responsible for this insanity. That's where I got BTS from.

I am using Vista.


Anyway, any help?


I am currently uninstalling and reinstalling it once again and hoping the patches will recognize it... but have low hope that that will work.

If you got BTS from D2D you must get the patches from them as well. Patches downloaded elsewhere will not work.

Aha, I figured out the problem. Finally got BTS to launch and when I went to 'Advanced' it said version 317 - no wonder the patch didn't work.

3.19 is the latest version of BTS, but you will have to get it from D2D.
