1)Why did they take out stack attack, was it because its not fair or cheating?



2)Anybody notice that when playing on the Rom 2.3 mod, playing on earth and playing 14 Civs. NONE of the CIVS start out in the WEST continents ( north america, south america). Everybody starts on the east side for some reason.........like china, russia, europe......why is that??

Where did they take stack attack out of? If you mean RoM 2.3, it's still there you just have to enable it. And your second question can be answered from a colonization point of view I think. The "east" colonised the west, starting in 1492.

Wow this game is insane, its sooo realitistic then



By the way, not sure if this is a ROM issue, but how come I'm -39 coins every turn when I have 0 on research and 0 on spy. All my Cities make more coins than the Maintinence as well. Is there anyway to dig down to why I'm so negative every turn on coins? I mean I am in war for a long time already, but not sure does that affect it. Some of my Military guys left me already.....
 
Must be your army size.

What I notice with RoM 2.3 is that civilizations aren't always destroyed when you capture their last city. Units remain to be killed while I don't have "require complete kills" on.

Also, when a civ is erased all culture once belonging to that civ should be erased from the records in my opinion. Is that possible?
 
@ Kobe2Clutch: definitely check your government and army size, a huge army will drain your resources faster than you can raze a city. Also loge wars create ‘War wariness” which also saps your money and happiness.

@Hyronymus: After wiping out the French, they popped up again later as a revolutionary people (split from the Chinese) and had their old culture value. This is probably caused from recycling the civilizations. Just a hunch.

I know how it comes but I'm wondering if it can be "stopped".
 
Go to your directory where BtS is installed (that is NOT the My Games/Bts/ directory) and edit GlobalAltDefines.xml in the RoM/Assets/XML folder to suit your needs.


When i try to edit this by opening it... i get this msg.

"The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Error opening input file: 'CIV4GlobalDefinesSchema.xml'. The system cannot locate the resource specified. Error processing..."


What do i need to do to edit this?
 
love this mod but my only complaint is the world map is too small. being the spanish, i'm only able to build one city. have tried to use a huge map that i downloaded and it is not compatible with the mod. is there another world map that is bigger than the one included in the mod??? thank you. great mod by the way.

So i figured out how to edit the xml files to enable archer bombardment and stack attack, and load up my saved game, and got a error soon after the first turn. Is this why you took archer bombardment off and stack attack off?

OK, I'm not Zap but what did you change? It should work fine, at least it does on my PC.

For these reasons at least (following quote from RevolutionDCM version notes):

The "issues" that this latest build (0.951) have are:
1) Stack attack can still occasionally loose control of the interface for the user
2) Stack attack sometimes induces ranged bombard units like treb's to have excess success rates
3) Stack attack seems to induce an opportunity fire effect with ranged bombard units even if opp fire is off
4) Archer bombard is still potentially unbalanced

And my 5) I don't like to give archers ability to bombard units because arrows don't have that kind of range (first strikes simulate well enough arrows).

You can use Stack Attack and Archer Bombard if you enable them but you can't turn them on in middle of the game, only works for new game.

You could try out Jeelen's huge earth map with 18 Civs. Check also Maps for RoM -thread for more map discussions.
 
Thanks for this MOD. this is the BEST MOD I've played........Its sad to say though my game keeps on Freezing after this specific turn.....

what are the steps for me to see the error msg because, I'm playing with Vista ulimate, and the game stops and I go back to desktop....Anyhelp would be great, I'm in the Modern Age...

does the RoM2.2ExtraCivPack1.1.zip work with the new 2.3? Just want to know before i download and install it
 
I'll second that question:

I've just started using Rise of Mankind 2 (a most impressive mod). So I was looking to expand the gaming possibilities and notice a set of civs available for download, but it is listed as applicable to ver. 2.2

So will RoM 2.3 be compatible with ExtraCivPack 1.1 or should we wait for an update?

Being that RoM 2 is turning out to be great, I don't want to do anything that would mess it up. :D
 
Oh, I'm so glad I discovered this mod recently - surely a masterpiece! This combined with RFC would make the ultimate mod, nothing less. :thanx:

A tiny thing I would like to be able to chance: the limits of wonders per city - I cannot get used to not have an uber-wondercity, so it is possible to mod that change out somehow? Would be much appreciated if anyone knows how to do this :)

I did install it and havent seen any major game breaking problems.

Also for people not happy with maps I suggest you go download this very nice addon, it works with Rom 2.3. It may take a few trys to get all the options right but believe me, this makes some lovely maps. Just make sure you put the file in /beyond the sword/public maps/ folder and select smartmap in the custom game option for map type.

I notice that when you capture the last city of a civiliation not all units of that civilization are wiped off the face of the earth. Spies and scouts remain, causing the civilization not to be destroyed.
