[BtS] Star Trek Mod

I've removed the spaceship launched text and set No Tech Brokering to default. My tech/project cost increase plan is as follows:
-Portal projects increase by 25-50% (not sure exact amount; feedback welcome)
-Late TNG techs: 25%
-DS9 techs: 30%
-Voyager techs: 35%
-Future Tech: 40%

As for corporations, I'm not sure why you can't found them. Do you have enough cash? Are you running mercantilism or state property? I don't know why the AI can found them multiple times either - possibly because of the fact that in the epic game they are put in the "Building" tag in Civ4UnitInfos but that doesn't work with this mod for some reason so I put it in "ForceBuilding" instead. No idea what the difference between the two is, except that one works and the other doesn't. Also, did you try clicking on it? I think there's a bug that causes them to be greyed out even when you can found them, but I'm not sure.

As for taking Devore, is there anything significant about the city? Any wonders built? Corporation headquarters? Could you post the city screen from the turn before it was captured? I've never had crashing problems.

As for more techs, I don't think I'll be adding more this version, but I plan to for an add-on pack to be released after this mod comes out (final version).

This might be just right.

I can't confirm this: I founded two myself, no problems (did get the same impression: that the same corp got founded multiple times). Perhaps, though, corps should be restricted (Ferengi only or set several civ preferences to Mercantilsm/State Market - or even removed altogether? Maybe a tad bit extreme.)

As for more techs, I don't think I'll be adding more this version, but I plan to for an add-on pack to be released after this mod comes out (final version).

OK. I had a look at that save. I'm not sure, but the crash may be caused by the duplicate corporation buildings. Fortunately, I have a fix for it in the works: instead of founding corps with Great People, you will construct the building yourself.

Oh, if anyone has any ideas for events (especially quests), feel free/encouraged to post them.

I also just realized that I forgot to include CvGameCoreDLL in the zip file. Oh well, not like the mod really loses anything without it at this point.

Suggested events:

- Q/Borg event: introducing the Borg/Borg contact
- Voyager event: would need a special map in 2 parts
- Enterprise event: Federation gets a free Light I when they can build these
- Planet Killer/DoomsdayMachine: would need a special unit
- Crystalline Entity: would need a special unit
- subspace rupture: would need link between no. of units & Global Warming

etc. (Memory fails me, but many episodes might be included as an event...)

Started a new game as the Breen on the Spiral Galaxy map with Raging Barbarians and no Space Race. By 2350 I've lost my precarious lead to the Kazon after they built the Multi-Race Database - same thing happened in my previous game.

BTW, deanej, did you make a patch or will corrections appear in the Final version?

Hi,

I tried using this mood with the vesion of 02/19/08. Copied it into the BTS Moods folder. But when I run the mood I it goes into the main menue without showing the fonts. They are there but invisible.

I use WinXP SP2, BTS v3.13 and BlueMarble.

Any Idea to solve this? I would really like to use this Star Trek Mod mood.
 
I guess multi-race database should be changed... maybe requiring 3 civs to know the tech or pushing it back to Hyper-Subspace communication like the UN.

I already have a crystalline entity unit that will sometimes spawn late game. Let me know if nobody sees it as it appears in the last 1/3 of the game.

Updates will be released with beta 2, which will hopefully include events and more unit models among other things. Possibly even a scenario. The reason why I don't think it loses anything without CvGameCoreDLL at this point is because all the changes in that file make the game recognize the new XML variables... which don't actually do anything at this point.

EDIT: @Gottkaiser85: did you put it in My Documents\My Games\... or C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\...? It needs to be in C:\Program Files\... or the theme won't work. Oh, and Blue Marble might also be at issue. Final Frontier has gotten some bugs from it as well.

Also, I've seen in many screenshots that people don't seem to have the corporation button showing! I can see it just fine, so I'll ask the rest of you the same question.

Never saw it - but I'm only in my 2nd game ever... (The Crystalline Entity being from an earlier series, maybe it should appear sooner?)

Yeah, I forgot about that: one of the buttons is indeed missing an icon.;)
 
Noticed something else: at some point the Woodsman promotion becomes available (applying to Asteroids terrain) - which got me thinking: wouldn't a Nebula promotion be more useful? (Just an idea...);)

Had to abandon my Breen game, due to an unprovoked war with the Hirogen, attacking my Light IVs with Light Vs...:(
 
Gottkaiser85: Are you using BTS in a different language than English? I've seen the same issue happening to people loading mods that were using other languages (Spanish, French...). Not sure if this happens with this mod, though.

And does it really matter for my font problem?

Don't know - just know it's terrain-specific, Blue Marble is.

Anyway, in my current game as the Romulans I noticed "Starfleet Acadmey". (And shouldn't the Borg be more powerful? Currently they're something of a push-over, it seems...);)

This mod is English only (as are most mods). You can change your language in the main ini file.

I can't believe that I forgot to rename woodsman! I'm not sure if its possible to make it possible to enter certain terrain with a promotion or not. I'll look into it.

As for the Borg, are they too weak? I'll probably tune leader personalities again, but they will never be as strong as they were in the show for balance purposes. Scenarios, however, will see MUCH stronger Borg vessels.

And as feature request: Maybe you could change your mod to show the font in other language versions off CivIV? I think nobody minds if the language stays english. But there are a lot of non english versions out there. It would be nice to have at least something (english text) to read without always changing the language to use this mod.

And thanks for all the effort to create this great sounding mod! (Didn't have the chance to look in it so far) ;-)
 
Depending on what mods you've played, you may or may not have encountered the issue before. I think that most of the big mods are multi-language. The "main ini" would be ...\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Civilization.ini. The language setting is buried in a long list. Also, could you post a screenshot? I'm guessing that this is the issue but it's best to know for sure.

I think I may be able to override default settings with the mod's ini file, so I may be able to fix the issue that way. I'd have to test this out first, probably on screenshot format as that's easy to see. If I can do this it may pave the way for another feature I want to add - a Star Trek scenarios section on the main menu.

You can also change the language from within the game: before loading the mod, just go to the Advanced, options (or their equivalent in German) and change it there.
