Buffy Mod errors - Repost

This is a repost of my entry into the Civ 4 - Techical support thread. I realized given the specific applications of Buffy with GOTM that this is likely the more appropriate place to post.


Just trying to install the Buffy mod to take part in GOTM. I've got BTS 3.1.9 installed and when I enable the mod I get the error " Warning: THe HOF Mod will be unable to save setting. Games played will NOT be valid for submission..."

I've followed the forum advice to adjust properties including "Full Control" under Security tab and "running as admin". I've also changed the compatibility mode to a few different settings including Windows XP SP2 and SP3.

This is a GOG install. I've seen forum posts regarding issues with STEAM installs but I don't believe this is relevant to me.

The error continues regardless. I'm not sure where to go from here.

GOG version apparently has some sort of registry issues. I'll ping herr Noble here @Noble Zarkon , who has fix for that problem.

Also, make sure to unclick Read-Only box under Properties of the root folders of civ iv in both programs and documents. Select apply to all subfolders. (note: afterwards, the read-only box will still appear as filled)

I forgot to mention it, but I had adjusted the read only box. I've done all of these function to both the Civ 4 file itself as well as the Save game files under MyGames section.

just to be clear do it on the root ( or top level folder) in both cases. I can’t be more clear as the game can install with different folder structures depending on where you got the game or its version.

C:\GOG Games\Civilization IV Complete\Civ4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe
D:\Documents\My Games\Beyond The Sword\Saves

We have awards for low score in each victory condition. If you are the only one submitting a particular victory (no culture victory submitted for botm189), then you can even have lowest score, latest date, and still get award for fastest victory of that type. Also, please submit if you lose (awards for that too) or give up (lack of time or success) we like to see the participation.
