Buffy the Vampire Slayer

it's more about the story line than the actual budget.
it is the story line of a b-production.

not that that cant be entertaining.

I don't really agree to that. It's much more sophisticated under the surface. Maybe you could say it had a superficial B line story. But you are missing a lot if that is all you see. It is certainly not is the B category of something like Xena.

but xena is awesome!

Xena may be awesome. But Xena is also pretty much the definition of B style camp. And that's Ok. Because that's what it was intended to be.

are you mocking us? :D

yes, Eliza did start to appear in season 3. she was a rogue slayer that never had any formal training, thus a bit on the wonky side, that got "called"/promoted when Buffy died, briefly, in season 1 and she was named Faith.

fair is fair. BTVS is not one of those shows you just tune into series 5 episode 13 and instantly get it. that's what all the crappy CSI shows are for.

while I suggest skimming the first season (if only because it looks so poorly) you can not watch an episode of BTVS like you would watch, say, an episode of STNG. Picard got turned into a Borg for short while which is basically all the character developement you need to know about for STNG.

now BTVS did have its monster-of-the-week shows. but the show is all about character developement. and cute girls kicking butts and taking names. there is a reason why Joss Whedon was a huge fan of Veronica Mars once he discovered it.

oh come on, it's not like i cant tune in at some point and need more than two minutes to figure out things like "oh, the red haired one from american pie is now a witch, ok".

which is exactly how i watched the series when it ran.

You could. But there's a lot that goes on over the course of the series that you'd miss that way.
