Okay, I think I've had enough of my aging computer. I can't play big maps due to everything slowing to a crawl in the later stages of the game. The game is just not playable if I have anything else running like a web browser. And I'm sick & tired of small maps  I’m running a five year old computer, I’ve upgraded it the best I can, but it is still not enough for this game. And I’m addicted to this game, of course.

Anyway, I'm sure this has been hashed out before, but let's get a modern census going on this subject since computer technology advances so fast.

If one was to run off to newegg & build a computer today, what build would be ideal to run this game at maximum settings, biggest badest map size, etc. etc.

Did some quick research this morning, and this is what I came up with for my price range:

Motherboard
ASUS P5B

CPU
Intel E6400

Memory
Corsair XMS2 2GB DDR800 (PC2 6400)

Power Supply
Thermaltake Purepower W0129RU ATX12V 600 W

HDD
Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA (toyed with the Raptor idea for OS, and of course Civ4, but hey now I’m not made of $$$)

Video Card
Not sure, proably 7600 or 7800 as a place holder until the latest-greatest get reasonable price-wise. Does DX10 even matter for this game?

I’m carrying over all my peripherals, such as the G15 keyboard, LCD etc. Probably going to stick with XP as long as I can. Speaking of which, can this game run on an alternate OS such as linex?

If you have a system that plays this game flawlessly, let’s hear about your specs.

Appreciate it!
