Building great wonders

I can't build almost any of them. Sometimes @ the begginng I can build the Great Colos or Pyramides but nothing more. And one more thing - when I build something in capital very often I receive a message that proccess can't be continueted and I should switch the objectives

First off you shoulg probably understand something. If you're not playing on the Cheiftain level you most likely will not get all of the Wonders. Now about the message that appears when you're building one. That happens when some other civ gets the wonder built before you do. So, you can;t build it any more and must switch to something else.

The best wonder strategy I can offer:

1. Make the requried techs for the wonders you most want a top priority in your research path.

2. Anticipate when you'll get the required tech. Start building a palace (or a different wonder) in your most productive city that's not already occupied with something important (like say, a different wonder) enough time ahead of getting the required tech, trying to have most of the requried shields in place when you get the tech, then switch your production when you get the tech. Be caureful not to accidently build a new palace or a wonder you didn't really want!

3. When you are beaten to a wonder, looks for cities building other wonders, see moving the production of a different wonder to the city that just lost a wonder race will get you the opther wonder sooner.

As an extra tip

The best city in which to try to build a wonder is NOT your capital. Because your best insurance policy against losing a race to a specific wonder is to swap production back to your Palace, if there is no other wonder to chase right now.

But you can't do that in your capital.

The cities next door to the capital have minimal corruption, so they can be just as powerful at generating shields. So you lose very little, and gain a great safety net.

Also, those cities can use the Palace to prebuild, as suggested above, also.
