This explains it all.

For those who tire of Bush-bashing threads: do you have any idea how easy Bush makes it to bash him? Do you have any concept that when Bush isn't causing an ocean of tears, he's providing comedy material for the next two centuries?

This has always been the case of the president - whoever was in office. Name one from oh, the last few decades, where they didnt provide great comedy material.

This is satire. Should be moved to H & J.

lololololololololololol. lololololololololollololollololol....

really... fool me once, shame on u, fool me twice shame on me.

Its an oldie :goodjob:

Just realized that I saw an old Saturday Night Live last night where the opening skit was an impersonation of Clinton commenting on the Gore run for president.

While it poked a lot of fun at the various republican candidates, it made a lot of fun of Clinton himself.

So, it seems to be a given - if you are the president you are going to get a lot of jokes and puns tossed your way, period.

No i think the reason he makes all these speech mistakes is because of not being confident talking to a lot of people.

Hell sometimes when i try to speak in a large group of people i get my words mixed up and so do lots of people i see speak.

This isnt a matter of intellegence. Although he may be dumb in other areas. Speech isnt a matter of intellegence.

Are you going to think someone who has a speech inpedement is stupid? No, and if you do i think thats a little biased on your part.

And just because hes a president doesnt mean hes perfect at speaking.

Actually I think it should be 'Fool 59 million people once, shame on you; fool 59 million people twice, shame on them'.

But what do I know. W is ten times funnier without trying as I am with all the effort in the world.

From the Associated Press:
A panel of America's most distinguished historians recently ranked President Bush as the "funniest president of all time." Runner ups included Millard Filmore, Gerald Ford, and Grover Cleveland. Professor Howard Greenberg of Harvard University stated that presidents with funny names, presidents who are clumsy or presidents who are fat have a head start in presidental humor but that Bush triumphed over his disadvantages to command the field. Dr. John Smith of the prestigious Institute of Humor Policy avowed that Bush's tortured use of English was calculated humor of the highest order. He opined, "It will be virtually impossible for any future president to come even close to matching Bush's humor index. He has really set the bar very high." Abraham Lincoln came in at tenth place largely do to his funny story telling. Sadly, George Washington and Franklin D. Roosevelt were tied for last place as America's least funny presidents.

Well, I don't remember too many jokes at G.H.W. Bush's expense. Of course, that was because Dan Quayle was such an easy target...

I guess Bush just had really crappy opponents.
Pretty much... or at least his opponents' campaigns.

Well, it is part of what gets people elected. Theoretically. Winning elections is all about speaking well and looking good.

If anyone thinks that image is not important, you only have to look back at the 1960 debate between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon. Nixon is believed to have lost in the public mind because of bad makeup.
