Buy regulars and calvary

Does anyone know how to make the regulars and calvary that you fight in the revoultion buyable?

If memory serves, occasionally your king will offer to let you buy Regulars and Calvary for a ridiculously inflated price. I find that it's generally worth it the first 2 or 3 times, but after that your much better off just generating your own troops.

I want to hack the game to make them availible in Europe. I've already found out how to make indian converts, petty criminals, expert teachers, indentured servents, ect... But I havn't found out how to make the regulars and calvary avalible.

The only way I know, is to change the gfx. But this is not what you are looking for. There is a number for each unit gfx somewhere in the textfiles, I'm sure you already know that.

Typically, the price offered is less than the combined value if you were to straight buy them in Europe: 2000 for soldiers, variable artillery price. I've gotten some great deals though, like 4 veteran soldiers and dragoons for ~4000.

However, the foreign mercenaries you get turn into veteran soldiers and dragoons (or Continentals in the Revolution). Why you would you want the enemy on your side? They should be slaughtered!

The other nation offers you Soldiers after the revolution; for a good price.

Aren't those Continental units though?

As far as I know, you can't legally have the Redcoat-like units in the game...but who would want those? Just put a bunch of Continental Dragoons in the wilderness and attack the enemy as soon as they land...that ambush bonus is a killer.

I haven't really modded Colonization...I just play it.
