i don't seem to have grapsed how to buy a unit or wonder or building. If I have the cash to complete production instantly, where can i do this???

This did work in civ3? I guess im not used to the civ4 interface yet? Or maybe there is no button but a key?

thx in advance.

Oh there is a button. It's near the lower right of the screen where you have like 8 buttons in 2 columns, right next to the area where you can select what to build. First 2 buttons are the rushing buttons.

Keep in mind you can only rush with slavery (pop rush) and/or with Universal Sufferage ($$$ rush). Hence why there's 2 buttons, cause you can have a game with both (LOL! Universal Sufferage with slavery...)

I think you can only rush building and units (not wonders, not SS parts), just like in Civ3.

Edit: It's not an article ... you have the main S&T forum for questions like this.

I'm pretty sure you can pop-rush (some?) wonders. Maybe just national wonders (can't check since I'm at work right now). I've been doing it in an OCC game on noble that I'm playing. I started with a bunch of bonus food resources, built farms everywhere, and, just pop-rushed everything.
I'm not entirely sure if I'll be able to win that game though, I don't think I'll win a diplomatic victory, and, I'm definitely sure I won't be able to build all the spaceship parts via rushing. I'm also not quite sure if it's possible to win a cultural victory in OCC. Which only leaves me with: :ar15:

don't forget that with bronze that got you slavery, you also give workers cut forest and you can use that to rush stuff as well.

The UI for this is pretty bad in graying out the option when you can use it EITHER because of your civics OR because you're short the money or people. I liked Civ3 better in showing you the option, but telling you you're short, only because it's so easy to overlook these buttons!

OTOH it's nice to have the mouseover on the buttons that tells you the cost without having that stupid advisor look all freaked out whenever you want to rush something.

I think you can rush all wonders...

But it costs gold in the thousands and rushing with slavery is only possible early in the game or if you just want it 2 turns earlier

Slavery is also an excellent way to -restore- happiness to a city that has overgrown it's population support. Rush a unit/building, bring your pop down by 2, and you get the unit and +1 happiness (-2 over pop happiness support = +2 happy once they're dead, -1 from slavery for a net gain of 1)

Great Persons are wonderful for rushing wonders and other important buildings (but only if they're more important than something else you need the person to do)

You cant rush projects. (sdi, internet, apollo, SS parts and I think Manhattan Project) Everything else is free game.
