I tried using the Caveman 2 Cosmo mod and it wouldn't work!
I did download the C2C mod and it's in a folder in what I think is the correct spot and nothing happened. So basically I have the mod and nothing to do with it; It's a waste of memory.
Do I have to configure it again?
Do I have to do something to get it working?

So please help because it looks like a good mod. :(

The question is... how did you download it and install it?

Steam installs often install a Caveman2Cosmos folder around the actual mod Caveman2Cosmos folder and this often causes the mod to appear to be there but when you load it you aren't loading the mod. Remove one of the folder layers and it's good to go. Make sense?

Holy cr*p I had forgotten how insane it could be, with an ssd it only takes 15 seconds to launch the game.

It won't take that long anymore since C2C got switched to another better and faster XML-Parser.

I just installed it. But this is how I did it...

Computer ---> Local Disk ---> Program Files (x86) ---> 2K Games ---> Firaxis Games
---> Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete ---> Beyond The Sword ---> Mods.
Then I pasted it. Do I need to move it somewhere else? Or is it not compatible for Windows 7?

I have my mod installed to C:\Users\<me>\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\MODS, which Civ IV itself installed outside Program Files.

That a the correct place. It should work fine with windows 7 as that was what I was using before I upgraded everything.

The main thing to make sure of is that you patch to 3.19 "by hand" and don't use the update mechanism in game as it does not work.

Make sure there isn't a Caveman2Cosmos folder within another Caveman2Cosmos folder. Location is correct.

I followed your advice and nothing really happened...
Whenever I load it, nothing changes.

So overview... Mod can be loaded, but doesn't work still.

What do you mean by "loaded"?? Does Civ IV at least start to load, what??

Do you get a different screen once loaded? Does it say Caveman2Cosmos in the upper right hand corner? If the answer to the first is false and the second is true, you still have a problem where the folder isn't leading directly into assets and the rest of the mod files.

@StrategyOnly, CIV 4 could always be loaded, there isn't anything wrong with that part. But the entire mod doesn't do anything... Yet
@Thunderbrd, The screen is the still the same. But yes, it says Caveman2Cosmos in the upper right.

That means that it is not finding the mod in the expected place.

It is finding the Caveman2Cosmos folder inside the Mods folder otherwise you would not get to select it from the menu and it would not display the name on the screen, but it is not finding anything to load inside that Caveman2Cosmos folder.

The most important things that should be inside the Mods/Caveman2Cosmos folder is an Assets folder and a Caveman2Cosmos.INI file. Are they present?

This is what i have to do on certain occations:

1. Start REGULAR BtS.
2. Click on Load a mod.
3. Click on Caveman2Cosmos, it then should load. (again older PC's can take quite a while)
4. You might have to do this a few times, then of course HAVE a SHORTCUT on your desktop . . .

@Dancing Hoskuld, There is an Assets folder but no C2C.INI file.
@StrategyOnly, A shortcut of the C2C? I have the BTS shortcut.

If you have C2C in the correct spot, then click on the Caveman2Cosmos folder, scroll down , there is a file that says C2C, and to the right of it, it says shortcut. That automatically should take you to the loading of C2C.

OK, so far so good. It is looking like it should, except for the missing Caveman2Cosmos.ini file although Windows sometimes does not show the extension of the file.

That ini file tells BtS stuff about the mod to do with how it is loaded and the like. I have attached a compressed copy of mine below. Download it and extract to into the Mods\Caveman2Cosmos folder.

BtW There should be 20 entries in the Caveman2Cosmos folder in total ie files and folders.
