The Jizya poll-tax has never been paid by those who inhabit the West side of Al-Andaluz, showing no respect for the Nasrid Caliphat. This is not just recently, no payment has been done for the last 10 years.
A more grave occurance has been the repeated refusal by the Portuguese infidels to hear the Islam call, even though our prophets have explained over and over the advantages of embracing Allah!
Now they haved dared to gather arms against the muslim forces!!!
All this 3 events gives us cause to declare... the JIHAD!!!
Following the rules of the Quran, all the muslims of appropriate age are called upon to join the JIHAD against the Portuguese mushrikuns!!!
Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. The Nasrid Caliphat has been obliged to expand it's territories by force but it eagers for peace. Proof of this peacefull intentions is the creation from scratch of a brand new city called Palma, which the Caliph hopes to became a great city for tourists, Christians and Muslims alike.

Our main strategy is still intact. Our enemies are strong but they have made one mistake. Nasrids will lose their army in Lusitan lands, mark my words infidel.
The only Jihad you´ll be making after this campaign will be in north africa in some lonely tent in the desert with your camels.
As for payment of taxes our court as prepared a tax for the Nasrids if they wish to suvive this: Ýour filfhty nation (if its indeed a nation since they are only a bunch of drunk useless soldiers with swords) shall pay half of your GNP every year to the great Kingdom of Portugal. You cannot buil dmilitary units or buildings of whatever type, you can only acummulate wealth for the bennefict of Portugal.
Non-complience to the terms will only make your pain greater. You are warned.

We dug in the survivors and hustle/draft/enslave more peeps for the city walls (all under ages 8 to 99 are now classified as able men for military duty, womem with large bodies are also included, they can be used as human shields).
All of Portugal´s nation are now ready to meet their destiny, we shall overcome this african filfth and after the storm the good times will come no doubt.

After putting up a valiant fight the Aragon's take Narbonne and reduce it to rubble. They regroup their forces and call for peace providing we pay a fee which we agree to as we have nothing to stop their advance. Two of my cities subsequently riot and are threatening to wrap towels about their heads.

I have killed around 4 portuguese units and lost an undetermined number of myh own units. Don't know exactly how many but it was a lot.
I must say I never saw somebody with so many Elite units so early in the game.

Did Noth, Castelo Branco is lost. As for the elites we have 5 of them, 3 are levys, they took a beating from Almoravid so they are elite. And i must say i never saw somone with over 50 units or more on turn 11. Half beeing veteran.

There is no doubt that the Christian God favours war much more than Allah, being much more generous in terms of allowing war experience to the soldiers.
The muslim dream of Al Hambra Palaces all over Al-Andaluz has fallen to the ground.
If there was a way to convert our religion to Christianity and gain high number of elite soldiers we would.
But, alas, we have to face the fact that we are muslims all way. We can now only hope to die with honour, despite the lack of war ethics from our opponents.
