Got/Played/Sent 320BC. Caesar Augustus landed on Sardinia last turn, prepared to face the evil minions of Carthage, but instead was greeted by this:
(The town was captured, of course, and the cowardly defender was hunted down and killed like the dog he was!)
Sinope - sunk a Mac Galley - Macs should learn to swim they died flailing in the water.
Otherwise quiet as the Persians cope with loss of city to the Mac and plot revenge. I notice Syths are moving east on the far fringes of our western borders.
(Thanks for the reminder re AI alliances/wars ... note I normally play this turn a few minutes before I head off to work so I have little time to broadcast news ... sorry. I have 4 PBEMs going on right now and they all appear to land in my inbox at once )
315BC has seen an epic naval battle off the coasts of Sardinia and Corsica!
After the evil Carthaginians sailed out of the fog and sunk my Elite flagship galley, the Romans sortied galleys from multiple directions, and sank a total of 3 Carthaginian galleys (2 wounded). One was promoted to Veteran, to become our new flagship.
Meanwhile, the Legions landed on the north coast of Sardinia were horrified to find the smoldering remains of what was once the prosperous fishing village of Olbia. The evil Carthaginians razed their own city as we approached!
Augustus himself was able to hunt down the remaining garrison, a band of archers, and quickly dispatched them for their war crimes.
A new century, 300BC, has dawned, (although we don't know why it's called BC yet!). No battles, but after a flurry of diplomacy, Rome has helped our Celtic neighbors to the north to see the evil of Carthage's ways, and they have agreed to unite with us in driving Carthage from our continent!!
Mac Galley sunk all hands lost. A lot of them came to the surface but our archers hanging from the sails for the best shot - stuck arrows down their miserable throats as they cried for mercy.
War has now been declared on us by the heathen egyptians and syths but since our troops relaxed and bathed on the shores - it is a nice break to have egyptians for target practice. We only hope the Macs spent lots of money to recruit these two civs to their worthless cause.
I sent it (295BC) to Romeo Friday afternoon, but haven't recieved a GPS yet. I know he mentioned being out of town for football last weekend, he may be out of town again this weekend? Anyway, I just now resent it just in case.
Anyway, here is a babble report. We gloriously killed 3 spears and an archer, lost 2 hoplites and a galley. Sorry for any delay, but weekends are gonna be crazy here for a bit with Football and weddings and job interviews.
