C3C PBEM : "Zama" - Rise of Rome scenario-based PBEM

Where's the save at now? From your post, WarningU2, I assume you've played and sent. Did you recieve it, Corsair? I haven't gotten it yet.

OK, got the save this morning, played and sent on lunch break. Being Consul is hectic! ;) No battles to report from my side, but it appears Carthage has invaded Egypt...

285BC, and all is well... A viscous galley from Carthage sank a peaceful roman merchant galley off the coast of Sicily last year, but no battles under my watch.

280BC: Another Carthaginian pirate vessel has sunk a peaceful Roman merchant off the Baelric islands, enroute to bring 'volunteers' to help our Celtic brethren in their fight to rid Iberia of the evil Carthaginian presence. No battles to report on the Roman watch.

Finally, in 270BC, the gloves have come off. Augustus himself witnesses the torching of yet another Carthaginian city, as the crazed defenders of Leptis Magna burn it to the ground before hurling themselves to their death against his Legionary Army in North Africa. Meanwhile, Carthage counters with landings of swordsmen in Sicily and Sardinia. The lone sword on Sicily is quickly dispatched, at the loss of an archer, and two more die in Sardinia at the hands of brave legions, while another archer is lost wounding a third. A galley that tried to sail around Sicily is sunk by an alert Roman galley, who becomes elite. There will be furious battles ahead!!

I will be gone this week. I leave tomorrow and get back on Thursday around Midnight. Sorry for any delay, but a grad student doesn't get much warning around here.

265BC G/P/S. Roman forces in North Africa are consolidating, but continuing to advance, after the loss of 3 Legions to an ambush of Elephants. Meanwhile, our legions completed the defeat of the remaining Carthaginian swordsman on Sardinia, and we sank another galley off the coast of Sicily with the help of coastal batteries (Catapult). ;)

@ Justus- are you able to show a screenie sometime soon :scan: . I'd love
to see a couple from this game! Very interesting! :goodjob:

Hmm, all of my current Satellite photos, er.... papyrus sketches of the front right now are classified! ;) But I will try to take some next turn that won't reveal too many Operational Details, at least not anything that Carthage can't already see.

The battle to liberate Ancyra goes badly for Persia and the army of Darius withdraws but faces the onslaught of 3 catapults captured from their own advancing forces! No losses to the Macs incurred during my turn.

Hoplights are proving to be a powerful unit, but the Persian people rejoice during our Golden Age and vow to change the fight and bring the battle from the sea ... to the soils of Mac itself.

Meanwhile back in Gaza the Egyptians lose during a great battle. The conquers are welcomed by its citizens. Egyptian chariots are in full retreat as they pull back across the Nile.

On the Sycth front a pittiful army from this poverty stricken nation advances, but our sentries have detected the stink of these primates. Our eastern border cities have dispatched imortals to face the onslaught.

As the Army of Caesar Augustus approached the city formerly known as Gabes, he was shocked to see that the Carthaginians had retreated in such a hurry that they did not burn the city to the ground. Augustus was welcomed by the townspeople with a fitting tribute, and warned by the signs that this could be a trap. The stench of elephant dung was sufficient evidence that the forces of Carthage were not too far away. ;) Rumors now abound that Hannibal himself has finally arrived at the front.

In other news, a Roman galley sunk as it attempted to chase a Carthaginian galley from the coast of Sicily, but was able to at least damage it.

@dgfred: Here's a current screenshot, just as Augustus is about to enter the empty city. Note Corsair's imaginative renaming!! :D

You can toggle the game interface off rather than edit it -- I think its the Del key

Thanks, I knew that, but in this case, the rest of the dialog box was strategically located to hide my hordes of reinforcements from Carthaginian spies!! :p (Or maybe the lack thereof  ). Seriously, I did want to include the minimap and date, but some things have to remain classified! ;)

There was little to report from Greece these days. The Greeks are just shuffling their forces, and waiting for something their sages call monotheism. With the development of True religion, it is believed that the Greeks will then be missionaries to the world.

Bah, Tanit is the only true God, plus our council has soo much fun with old child-sacrificing traditions.

Ah yes, and the front is a mixed one: crushing victories at sea, with mixed results on land. My elephantine ambush was brilliant, but the Army itself is still untouched.
