Hello,

I'm considering to get a DELL Laptop with Intel Centrino (1.5 GHz) and 512 MB RAM, but with Intel "extreme" graphics that shares the main RAM. I.e. no GForce / NVidia, etc.

Does anyone have any experience with running C3C on such a laptop? Specifically with shared graphics? Or perhaps you have shared graphics in your desktop? Is C3C expected to run smoothly on such a laptop?

Thanks for your feedback.

HI, i have a laptop with these spec:
P4 2.4 Ghz
512 MB Ram
ATI Radeon 9000 - 128 Meg Shared

Civ 3 conquest run perfectly on these spec standard to large map, however i don't use gigantic map on this laptop, i use my home computer instead.

What is your graphic card = 32Meg or 64Meg ?

Thanks for your prompt feedback. I don't like huge maps myself, either.

The laptop I look at has 64 MB shared RAM for the graphics.

well, i think y'oul be fine with 64 meg
i known for myself that too much meg of graphic card ,if shared on laptop, is not that good if you want to play game like Rome - Total War or others like that.

Since Civ3 does'nt require a beast to play, 64 meg sound good to me.

If others have idea post them ...

Acer 291, 1,5 Ghz Centrino with i855GM:

Civ3 runs absolutely smooth. I prefer to play it on my laptop, as most other games run better on my desktop - but Civ3 is always with me on travels. :)

Edit: And I played and finished a HUGE game on it without any problems.
Rome: Total War play horribly, but you can play with lowest detail.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Longasc: That sounds just about the same indeed. i855GM or i855GME is what will be in my DELL, I think. And you're right, for arcade type of gaming you may need something faster wrt video, but that's what desktops are for. Hajime: RAM is the biggest bottleneck, I agree, and I'll have enough for the size of maps that I play.
