C3C problems

Just installed C3C here the other day and I'm having 2 problems with it:

1) Cmd-H no longer works. I thought I read something about that here but I can't find it. :( It makes playing in full-screen mode rather a pain!

2) It crashes. A lot. Typically at the end of a turn. I suspect it may be related to playing it in a window (which is one of the reasons I'd like to be able to play it full screen) as when I did play it FS, it didn't crash once. I've got the crash reports, but frankly, they're next to useless for me as I'm not a programmer. :)

PowerBook G4 1.67GHz, Tiger 10.4.4, running at 1440x900. Using scenario with modified rule set, but I did that on Civ3 vanilla without a problem.

(PS, I'm Mrs Eldar, he told me to stop making him post questions. :) )

1) True - Cmd-H currently only works in windowed mode. IIRC Brad hopes to change this in a patch.

2) I see the same - running in windowed mode makes it very crash-happy. The best course of action is to email the crash report to brad@aspyr.com so he can take a look at it and try to fix it.

Hi Mrs Eldar :wavey:

I would guess Brad will want to see that scenario, or a save file that exhibits the crash.

I have been playing solely in window mode since I got Complete and have had no problems. Mostly 1152 x 768 for a moveable window, but sometimes 1280 x 1024, which looks like full screen on my second monitor but leaves my primary screen free for other stuff. I have had no crashes.

If you want to post your scenario here with instructions on using it I'm happy to check if it is unstable on my rig.

Well, it's not the scenario - can confirm that because it crashes using all the defaults. (DIdn't think my scenario would do anything anyway--it's just some rules fixes, basically, makes all my units move faster :) )

Top of the bug report is something about WindowServer...

AlanH, do I understand correctly that you're not playing on a laptop? Because that is one common thread between me and alexis - I'm on an iBook (for one more day, hopefully!) and she's on a PowerBook. It seems plausible that this is significant.

E-mail the crash log to me please - brad@aspyr.com.

No, I'm not on a laptop, but I can't think of a single reason why a laptop would change the behaviour of software like Civ3 COmplete.

Hmm, well, I was going to suggest that perhaps it was a Cinema Display issue, but if he's on an iBook, then not. I'll mail the next crash log...

You don't have to wait until it crashes again. All your previous crash logs are recorded and can be retrieved and copied and pasted selectively and sent to Brad. See my previous post on the subject.
