Hello,

I have the exact same problem. Textures doesn't seem to show correctly. They appear in the wrong place, corrupted, bleeding into other textures, flashing or you can't see them at all. This only happens to the menus, every thing else looks ok. Still, the game is nearlly implayable because you can hardly see anything of the bottom menu, the advicors screen etc. The city meny is fine though.

I also have a Radeon, 9600 and 4.2 Cats. Win XP Sp1.

This only happens in Conquests, regardless of game version.

Any help appreciated. :)

I have exactly the same problem....
starting up the game and all graphics are a mess...like the one U posted here
and in the game i have all kind of colored boxes at the bottom of the screen
and 6 faces of Joanne of Arc ( some like that ).

HELLLLLLLPPPP ;)

I havent found a solution to this problem anywhere on the net...
Has anyone on this thread managed to resolve the graphics issues?

tried reinstalling civ and conquests. patched with latest available patches. video drivers are fully up to date. never have installed any customizations so far...

still have the problems :(

- Parts of genghis khan's and queen victoria's faces showing up instead of resource icons! Ditto for some of the cursors such as the Go to cursor that comes while you are click-dragging to a destination square.
- All menus are haywire.
- Action buttons (fortify/sentry/build/irrigate...) are visible as highly distorted small squares in the wrong place.
- some scenarios (e.g. wwii pacific) do not load because of a missing file in the art folder.

Am at my wits end with this one...

I use an HP notebook - PIV 2.4GHz, 192Mb ram, Radeon IGP 345M display adaptor
DirectX version is 9.0c - neither 9.0a nor 9.0b! You think that could be the problem?

this is yet unsolved - i've been through several forums and discussions on the issue. Enough people seem to face the problem but nowhere have I seen a solution! I guess you gotta give up somewhere maybe?

I have this problem as well. CivIII 1.29 actually played fine. C3C is all messed up. Im not Sherlock but I see a pattern here. Everyone who has these problems is using an ATI card. I use Raedon x300. I have installed all the newest drivers, all the game updates, un-installed and re-installed the game dozens of times without success. It looks to me like this is some issue between ATI and C3C. It may be as simple as changing some settings, but I havn't found the right one.....or it may require a patch....a shame since I was so looking forward to playing Conquests which came out while I was in U.S. Army signal school....

I think you may be right. Have you seen any other posts elsewhere that refer to radeon related issues? May be worth doing a check on it?

I also have this problem. I beleive that the PCX files in the Art folder are all mixed up. The file names are correct but the contents are not. We need to get hold of the correct set of Art files.

If the moderators do not have a problem with it, I can post the art file. I got tired of Trymedia's bs and got another copy of civ III which now works fine.

Actually, yes, we do have a problem with it. It would violate the 'No Piracy' rule that we have here.

While I realize that you're trying to help people who legitmately bought the game, sometimes the rules don't allow us to help the people that need it. We at CFC have an excellent relationship with Atari and Firaxis. We would like that relationship to continue. To do so we must have rules like this.

If it was the demo version, then if you patch it, it has that bug. It's a problem with the demo.

I see this topic is pretty old, but did anyone ever find a solution to this problem? I just got a new laptop, and when I tried playing Conquests, I had the same screwed up graphics.

I have an NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 , DirectX 9.0c... argh.

Hi,

Just want everyone to know this is still a real problem, after a recent reinstall from trymedia (note not a demo - but paid version 1.22 - the version 1.0 had no problem) i have suffered the same affliction. It is a fairly simple one to solve - get the right art files for conquests. This is nothing to do with a graphics card, or any of the other problems people have suggested. I have egyptian heads in my file for "consolebuttons.pcx" file. This is straight after an install from scratch.

I am currently going through the support process, but like Joel, I am not expecting much help. Anyone who has a suggestion or can provide a correct list of filenames, sizes or copies of correct files, please let me know.

You're just going to have to keep on to TryMedia. For CFC to upload any files would be piracy, as far as CFC is concerned.

Good luck.

Oh, and I deleted your other thread. Please keep from posting more than one thread on the same topic.

I posted here a really long time ago about the textures, just noticed it pop up in my email. I tried for weeks to work with Trymedia to find out how to get their downloadable version to work with commercial versions of Civ3. Apparently their intent is to Not have it work so you have to buy all of your upgrades from them as well. Instead I went to Electronis Boutiq and paid more money for a *good* copy. Moral of the story if you are reading this: If you cant wait to make a trip to the store and buy the game on disk, your stuck with the Trymedia version. End of story.

To the Mods: I understand CFC's position on piracy and whole heartedly agree with it. Looking back I probably should not have offered, I just know the frustration I felt on losing the money for nothing. The only pirating that needs advocating around here is Pirates!...Avast ye lubbers me spies yonder treasure ship!...
