How about AI flavor that affects what tech they will research, does that affect how much they value a given tech in trade?

Not directly, I don't think. But techs that AIs have partially researched aren't worth as much to them as techs they've not put any beakers into, so techs they're likely to go for are techs they're more likely to be investing in.

So the turn you meet toku, gifting him 10g might be enough to jump up to pleased and make him open borders.

I noticed that but at that time I hadn't had Currency so gifted him Mysticism. I didn't know that it can be as cheap as 10G ))

Still it is better to do earlier when it is cheaper & get bigger sustained piece (or how is it named?) counter. Also Toku might be resource => gold trade partner later...
