Calculator Updated

Just to point out, the Max Score on the calculator is off (low) badly. I didn't play GOTM21 at all, and forgot about the terrain modifications. The utility I used to get the Max Score isn't equipped to deal with the terrain mods, and so it will be a couple days before I fix that.

(if anyone wants to count up the food and land tiles for me in the interim.. feel free ;) )

Aeson, you aren't going to have to MANUALLY count all the food resources, are you?

If you are, just let me know. I can find the # without manually counting them.

As I understand it, this means players will be getting an increased date bonus so there scores will be going up not down after the max score is adjusted. I originally assumed the scores would be going down before looking at the calc. Is that right?
For the GPR are the player jason scores that go towards the GPR, percentages of the theoretical max score or percentages of the best player max score or do they get included as is with just the shelf-life modifying them.

The Global Rankings are now based off the Jason score. The top Jason score for the month gets 100%, and all other games are rated by the top score.

The date bonus takes into account the expected score at that date, and rates the players game based off that. The Best Dates determine how much leeway a player has in that calculation.

So basically, having a lower Max Score is going to mean everyones scores rate higher against the expected score for their games. So when it is put up where it should be, the Jason scores will all drop (at least for games past about 10AD). How much they drop is going to be based mainly on date of finish.

Until I get the exact food count, I couldn't say how much scores will drop, but I'd guess it would make a difference of about -1000 at 1000AD or thereabouts. It could mean up to -3000 difference in a milked game.

Ok, the Calculator should be working as intended now. I must have used the wrong save to begin with even, as all the best dates were also off, and are fixed now.

My Mapstat domination limit is {XXXX} so if I have all those tiles worked by happy people and each tile produces 4 food my population could be double that. Now multiplying {XXXX} by 4 (2 for each happy person, 1 for each specialist, and 1 for territory) I get {XXXX} and that assumes that you have that for the whole game. I guess I don't really know how this game keeps the score. I thought it was an average of the score for each turn over the entire length of the game.

Please, no spoilers as to the nature of the current game. Thanks. - Aeson

Pretty much the same as you outlined, but then you need to multiply by the difficulty level, which is 4 for Monarch.

That gives a max turn score. The overall score is an average of all turn scores, so all that's needed for the max score is a percent of max turn score that is expected to be possible. Normally that percent is around 60, but varies based on how quickly the domination limit can be achieved.

Thanks for the clarification.

DOH! I had calculated the Jason score prior on my game and was fairly happy....I just did it again and saw that the score dropped by over 1700 points!

But I have to say, I will be very impressed if someone beats one of the "best" dates this month!

I'm with you on this one. Furthermore, I will be very impressed if the top 3 medal winners gets more than 9500 Jason-points on this game.

I'm with Dave and Moonsinger. My Jason score this month is my lowest ever, and for once I thought I had played a fairly solid game. I think that anyone who scores over 8000 this month will have played an amazing game.

Is the above the correct address for the calculator? I just tried to access, and got

OK, someone needs to fix the web page.

The old calculator address I had pointed the wrong address above.

==========================

I agree, I will be shocked if anyone beats a best date.
Domination in {XXXX}?????

I think that this is the only way most players will get decent GPR points- if the top score is real low. I am currently sacrificing chickens to the Gods of Normalisation :crazyeye:

The calculator for the current game is always marked as spoiler. I could not find when it is allowed to use the calculator. Do you have to have submitted the game already, or what's the rule to use it?
