Can any mod work in MP?

I thought I saw on a dev video live they were saying that in MP games if someone doesn't have a mod the host has, it will download them for you. I guess I misunderstood what they said? I don't do many MP games to be honest, they are long drawn out and at times it gets a bit boring depending on who you are playing with of course. :)

The game is set up for that, yes. Not all the mods are coded that way. It's probably just best to read the change notes on the individual mods, or ask the modders.
Many folks will try to fix things up for you if you ask in a constructive way!
 
Without the mod tools I don't think fan mods can be automatically transferred from host to player....at least no mods I've seen will do this.

The transferre part would need steam workshop suport for that, so no that does not work unles u use a hard to do work around
 
As long as everyone use the same version of a mod, it should be MP compatible unless it uses gameplay scripting in lua.

Which makes me fear that they may have killed gameplay modding to allow MP modding, I really hope I'm wrong and modders will simply get a way to tell if their mods are MP compatible or not... Because gameplay will require to be coded with MP in mind to prevent desyncs.
