Can anyone recommend good PCX editor

I am have problems with the PCX files. The editor I have saves the photos as PCX but it doesn't show up in Civilopedia or in the city screen. So I willing for recommendations on editors to use. I have experince in doing mods for Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. So I am hoping I can add much touch to this game as well. I have Play the World as well.

If they are showing up black, make sure that they are saved as 8-bit color (256 colors) as opposed to 24-bit color. Also make sure that the last 2 colors on the palette are unused on your image since the game uses those spots to mark transparency. Most people here use Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop to edit the PCX images, both of which are commercial programs although the former has a 30-day trial. The Gimp is a free image editor that should do the job although I haven't used it myself.

Photoshop is all I have. If you know someone who has a legal copy, get it.

Paint Shop Pro 7 is always good.

There are probably thousands of older versions of photoshop lying around in some offices etc. Get one of those. 5.0 or 6.0 are still good but many companies,schools and such update every time they have a chance.

I use Photoshop LE, pretty old, but i got it free from someone who had gotten a newer version. It works fine for me.
