Can Basium be rebuilt?

Just curious, can Basium be rebuilt if he dies? He appears in the tech tree as buildable unit, but I can't build him even if I have the tech. However, there's something mentioned about certain scenarios, so I'm not sure if the build option only applies for them.

No, he cannot be rebuilt. He can, however, be resurrected with the Life III spell, like the other civ heroes.

The tech prereq and cost of Basium and Hyborem haven't been changed since Light, before their spawning mechanisms were added, back when they were AI-only civs.

If you start a Mercurian game without the Basium unit (in scenarios like Lord of the Balors), then you will need Iron Working to build the hero.

I personally think it would be better for Basium to require Fanaticism and Hyborem to require Infernal Pact.

Thanks, I'll check out the life spells now. Does this spell also reset the experience? My Basium had more than 400XP. He was almost a demi-god. I was pretty shocked when he died...

Yes, Resurrection creates a new instance of the hero, starting with no xp and only the promotions it is set to have in its xml defines (minus any equipment promotions some heroes like Dona, Rathaus, or Alazkan might have).

One question, if he is resurrected, does the civ regain traits?

No, not in the main version anyway. I made it give the traits back in one of my versions.

From what I hear, adding or removing traits hasn't works since 0.41b, due to changes in BtSv3.19.

^^^^^^^^
