No, you can't. Some TOT scenarios can be very different from MGE scenarios because TOT has multiple worlds (underground, earth, and sky).
Also TOT has more units (about 80 when compared to MGE's 60 something) and each unit is in the resolution 64*64 (rather than 64*48). And the rules.txt is longer, as you can edit more unit capabilities (such as stealth, limiting the units to certain civs, non-disbandable units, etc.) as well as the ability to group techs and make some of these groups available only by stealing or trade or not available at all.
I think (but am not sure) that TOT also has more event capabilites)
So in all probability TOT scenarios will not work in MGE.

I have tried this as well, and as the others said; it's just impossible. The changes in ToT are just too large. Besides, you can't play a FW game on Classic either.
