I have a toshiba satelite (model number at home, I will edit later and put it here).

I need to know if I can change the card but the toshiba tech lady was some idiot foreigner that didn't tell me anything but "try searching the internet."

How can I tell if I can change it and the specs I need and what card is reccommended. If I can change it am I looking at under $200 or like over $300 do you think??

I know this isn't axactly about civ 4 but this is what I think I need to do to get the best gameplay on this game. I'm hooked man and now I'm tweakin out my laptop to support my habit.

Nevermind. I just found out that not only is the card imbedded its also not using shared memory. So its what it is. I feel like throwing it at the toshiba tech persons head and demanding money back for a Dell.

it is possible, but it's a lot harder than on a pc.

edit: and less recommended

No I'm not getting another laptop. Mine is nice but I never take it anywhere anyways. I want to get a good tower (already have the monitor and stuff) But I'm still looking. I need a setup with 2 gigs and a killer video card. Eventually I'll be running dual monitors on the beast. I do graphic design for a living so I need it. Any reccomendations on where to look? I'm checking out e-bay right now.

You would think they would design laptops so you can add a card in the slot for video. Something that overides the onboard "card". Similar to a PC that doesn't have a video card slot of any kind and you just add a regular PCI video card.
