[BTS] Can I use Civ4 Complete Edition from Steam with mods?

Or should I buy Civ 4 complete edition (that includes all expansions) from somewhere else? Not sure if buying from Steam makes it incompatible with different mods? There's currently (until 9th July) a nice discount on the Civ4 Complete Edition.

Im looking fro a little advice from some Civ 4 experts that knows anything about this, thank you in advance for any help!

I don't use Steam, so I can't comment on that but GOG also has a Civ4 Complete, which I have and use with no problems. The GOG version was recently on sale and might still be. However, even when not on sale it is pretty cheap.
