can someone please help me? I can't install mods, at all

steam tells me they're downloaded, but they're nowhere in the game, I can't even find the folder where they've been downloaded...

A MAJOR BUG, EVERYONE WHO ISN'T A DUMBASS AND DOESN'T INSTALL CRAP ON THEIR OS PARTITION SUFFERS FROM THIS CRAP

did I just waste my money on an unplayable, pirated version full of bugs and with no mods support, or on a real game? wasted 5 hours trying to make the mods work, it's just impossible idk what to do, tried deleting civ5modsdatabase.shet and i achieved nothing, deleted some cache thingie, nope YOU'RE NOY ALLOWED TO HAVE FUN BUT THANKS FOR THE MONEY DUMBASS

I swear to god this is the last time I'm buying a game from these incompetent devs, I should've known that the legit version has even more bugs, it's logical, the worse a dev company is, the worse it punishes its own customers


wasted an entire day on this crap I can't believe it, it's as if I'm buying cigarettes, it's as if I'm buying poison with my hard earned money, instead of having fun I'm being mentally raped for 4 hours trying to fight against a THREE YEAR OLD, MAJOR, HUUUUUGE BUG, i'd have more chances of stopping a nuclear explosion by farting in its direction



I just can't believe it, I've played hundreds if not thousands of games, never in my entire life had I played a game like this, buggy, not just indie-level buggy, AAA-level buggy, the worst kind of buggy, it's when devs are so lazy, uncaring or maybe incompetent that even if they know they'll be getting a stable income and maybe some bonuses THEY SIMPLY CHOOSE NOT TO DO IT

meh, 3 year old bug that almost everyone suffers from? we should postpone it another 3 years, maybe we'll even release the fix as a DLC, YES, QUITE! MARVELOUS IDEA!

why am I supposed to waste my life trying to fix bugs like this? just a few days ago I was wasting my life, on this game again, trying to find a way TO MAKE THE DAMN GAME REMEMBER MY CUSTOM GAME SETTINGS

I had to edit game .xmls and other things trying to MANUALLY IMPLEMENT A FEATURE THAT'S PRESENT IN RTSs since the beginning of the GENRE

I believe steam-based mods basically install through launching the game through steam.

Blame steam, not civ. I agree completely that steam is complete bull.

I tried that, game simply won't install anything, I'm subscribed to 20 mods and nothing ishappening, nothing is downloading, well a few seconds ago I saw a couple of mods got downloaded but in the game they aren't there, and I can't find them in the game directory, this is just incredible, I'm paying money so I can waste my life and be angry, I'd totally enjoy it if I were a masochist, maybe steam and civ5 should start a partnership and release a new civ game, Civ VI: masochist, wasteyourlife edition, now with "you're gonna want to murder us till we die after you play this" dlc!

and this is not entirely steam's fault, steam downloads my mods but it's civ that won't install them, and the bug is obvious, if you don't install the game in C:\ (WHO THE HELL DOES THAT?) meaning your OS partition usually, this bug kicks in

anyone know how to actually download mods with steam?
if not I'll just uninstall the legit version and lend one from some of my "friends", ironically it would probably work better than the legit version, since usually devs only punish paying customers, lol xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD :))))))))))))))))))))))))))

It loads the mod(s) and allows you to start a new game. I know, I know, it's like rocket science difficult and all and here you are some computer genius.

I did repeat myself about 2-3 times saying I did all that.
I'm not a I know how to click things and watch stuff happen, I even looked in every directory civ5 made both in steam and in my user folder in the OS partition and no mods to be found, nothing, it's simply impossible for me to install mods for this game.

to think I wanted to get a legit copy so I wouldn't be a pirating jerk, and also because I wanted to enjoy mods, looks like I made a terrible, terrible mistake buying a game that has 3 year old bugs still unfixed

my documents/my games/ sid's.../MODS/ nothing here
nothing nothing nothing, subscribed to 10 or so mods, steam told me it has finished downloading them, NOTHING, tried subscribing to those mods AGAIN while at the menu, waiting a few mins then going to the mod menu and ticking the "show dlc mods" still nothing appears, apart from dlc mods I probably bought, but not the mods I'm looking for
