Can the Globe Theatre be built in the same city as the National Park?

I have the National Park already built in a city and I want to build the Globe Theatre there as well but it's not letting me.

Is there a bug or a rule that won't let me build both in the same city? I know there's a limit of 2 national wonders to a city, so I made sure that I don't have any other national wonders there and I don't.

The game is even showing me what else I can build there and it shows other national wonders as available to build.

Any thoughts?

Do you have any other National Wonder in that city.

You are only allowed 2 in each city.

You can build as many World Wonders as you like.

You also need a theater in that city in order to build the Globe, as well as a total of 5 theaters in your Nation. I think it's 5.

I think it's 8.

Depending on map size. On normal map size, you need a total of 6 Theaters in your empire (one in the intended Globe Theater city). I think it's 8 on Large and Huge.

Or the Globe Theatre could be in the build queue of another city.

Also remember that the Palace counts as a national wonder, so you can only have 1 other national wonder in your capital.

^ Maybe you mean the Forbidden Palace? I believe the palace counts as a normal building aka "city improvement"

No, I meant what I said. I'm certain I've been blocked from building more wonders in my capital before, after only making one. If you have a counterexample, though, then by all means, let's see it.

I'm pretty sure it's not a national wonder - if you look up threads on national wonder placement(like this one) they always talk about two national wonders in the capital besides other city buildings like the palace. But to correct my earlier post it seems the palace is not a city improvement either and is its own special building type; it's like a national wonder in that a civ cannot have more than one palace but it can be constructed in other cities and changes the capital upon completion

Hmm. Well, maybe I have some false memories then. It's been awhile since my capital warranted two national wonders anyway, so I haven't had cause to try recently.

Palace is not counted as a national wonder; you cannot build Forbidden Palace (NW) or Versailles (WW) there though. At least I couldn't build Versailles on OCC on my capital ; I've rarely had Divine Right before Versailles is gone on normal game say I cannot say for 100% sure. Would be quite pointless anyway..

If your national park city has a lot of forests surrounding it, then you don't need to build the globe theater in the same city, because the forest preserves give +1 happiness each.

Unless you plan on using it as your Nationalism draft city too. Remember that the free specialists you get from the National Park don't depend on population -- you can have 17 specialists admiring the preserves you've built up around a pathetic back-country hovel.

I definitely have enough theatres in the city for my map size.

So it sounds like people have been able to build the GT in the same city as the NP?

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't trying to do something that can't be done.

If you still haven't solved the problem, why not Attach a copy of your saved game? It'll be easier for someone to diagnose the problem if they can get their hands on the saved game.

@Theresa:
I have built both in the same city in the past.

@Derakon:
I have routinely built two National Wonders in my capital city in almost every game that I have played. So, the palace does not count as a National Wonder.

Most likely culprits seem to be the national park in a queue in a different city or perhaps overlooking a 2nd national wonder that has already been built in that city.

I know I chronically put the national epic and globe in the same city and then spend 10 seconds trying to figure out why I can't put the national park there later. In like every game I play.
