Can we check on existing deals while in diplomacy?

Often an AI will propose a resource deal to me, and I can't remember whether I've got an extra unit of the resource it's asking for. Nor can I check on whether I already have whatever the AI is offering. Is there a way to check on this sort of info while the AI is asking for a trade? I seem to recall that in Civ 3, you could check on existing deals while pondering such an offer.

Along the same lines, I seem to recall in Civ 3 that you could pop out of talks with one civ, effectively putting them "on hold," and visit another civ, then return to the initial civ. Is there any way to cycle thru diplomatic partners like this? As it is now, it seems one must exit diplomacy entirely when one is done talking to an AI.

Instead of saying "I accept this deal" click on the "can we negotiate" choice. This will bring up the full trade menu and allow you too see what you have too trade and what you have traded in the past. I also clear the table to I can see how many of that paticular resource the AI is asking to trade for. I got caught once tradeing away my last horse. I wont let that happen again.

The trouble I have is when a competing civilization confronts me with a demand to cease trading with another particular civilization. Sometimes I don't remember if I can afford to cease trading or not. If I have just an open border agreement, it's no problem. But if I'm getting a nice luxury resource from that other civ, I don't want to lose it. I'd like to be able to check my trade agreements when someone demands that I cease trade.

What Flamegrape said. I wish there were a way to check on all aspects of relations, including relations with other powers, before having to answer the AI. I suppose I just need to pay better attention to who my friends and enemies are, but it would be nice if the interface allowed me to double-check before committing to a deal.

Something I noticed is that even if you have only one of a particular resource, you are still allowed to trade it. The AI can ask for your last one. I always click on negotiate, then clear the board to see how many of the resource I have. If it says one, then no way.

Be careful with this. Sometimes the AI will offer you a tech trade interturn with a tech that they otherwise are not willing to trade you. If you click can we re-negotiate the tech they were just offering to you is redded out and you can't even get the original deal back on the table.

I don't know if it's a bug or a feature.

Actually, I'm fairly certain that they will never ask you for the last source of a resource you have. Just like you can't ask them for their last source. You can only offer up your last source.

I've seen this too. An A.I. will trade lets say Iron for Spices but if I want to re-negotiate, well they dont want to trade the Iron any longer, no matter if I want to give them the same deal they just proposed, or all my technology and all resources etc. It's seems quite stupid. What I only have one chance to accept the deal they propose? ;)

So if you clear the table, and let's say they wanted to trade for your Dyes, on the right-side where it lists these resources, you obviously see the Dyes there. However, at times I have seen next to the Dyes the number (1) in the brackets. Does this mean you only have the one source of Dyes in your empire or that you have only one to trade (and another one not listed)? I am at work so cannot even check. Does anyone know?

In one game I played, I had the AI ask for a resource that I knew I had only one of. If you look in the trade window, all of your resources are listed there whether you have only one or five. Next time you play, count how many of a certain resource you have and then open diplomacy with another civ and see how many are listed.

As I said above, I'm pretty sure that if you accepted a deal under those curcumstances, you would lose your last source until it was time for renegotiation.

On the other hand, it could be a benefit to trade your last source of something. You wouldn't know until you did it but you could trade your last source of Bananas for Rice with one civ and then trade Pigs (which you have multiples of) for Bananas with another civ. You gain a resource that you couldn't have gained in any other way and you lose nothing as long as you trade a food source for a food source.
