Can you get games off the internet?

You could just do the right thing and buy the games you want....or atleast be resourceful enough to find sites that partake in this illegal distribution yourself <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif" border=0><IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif" border=0>

There's no one 'where' to find games, but here's a tip:
To find things on the internet there are these things called 'search engines,' you can find a nice one at google.com

Some older games have been made available by their publishers on the net for free, just search their name or their publisher's name. Otherwise, I suggest you just pay for the game...anything old enough not to be too huge to download would only be $5 anyway...

I feel that this topic is teetering on the line of what's permissible to discuss in these forums. As the forum guidelines say, "You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this forum." It is my opinion that so long as this discussion does not specify the location of any copyrighted files, the locations of websites or ftp sites in which to obtain such files that we can allow this discussion to continue. In other words, this topic is only to discuss in very broad terms the existence of such distribution centers and not the locations or procedures to obtain these things. However, if forum administration feels that I have made some grevious error in saying these things then may thunderfall strike me down.

In reply to Stormbringer: YES, but it is illegal. If you know where to look it's quite easy to get anything you want: games, movies, applications, music, cracks, etc. Some would justify it by equating it with Napster. But are Napster and Warez the same thing? Should P2P networks be shut down as readily as Warez and illegal FTPs?

Nay, I know not. Those are very difficult questions. Perhaps we just accept Napster and other P2P networks becuase of their how common and popular they have become and once warez becomes as common as Napster then we will accept it too.

ummm....it's legal to have one back up copy of a game you own. so technically it's not aways illegal.

you are just talking about abandon ware being illegal but some game downloads are Shareware and some are Freeware! because some of the games that you can download from the Internet are just elaborate demos.

Have any of you played the game Morraf World? The game you download is just a fraction of the game you CAN buy which it tells you how to buy it in the game you download.

sure. Just go to google and search for warez. Or gamez. Or you can go to their official site. Which i won't tell you, but it has warez in it along with dot com.

Hehehe. But if you get caught (here), it's gonna cost ya 1000 guilders per program.

1000 guilders = $450-$500
= 333 pounds
= 3000 FF
