I need help everyone please!

I have just downloaded 4 and all its spin offs (BTS etc) and I can't find the program files on my computer?!

How does Steam work?!

Can I not MOD anymore?!

BTS will be under something like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

I recommend switching to the Beta-original release version in Steam

Always run from the BTS executable...not the Steam library

(Note: All version of Civ in Steam are Standalone, i.e., you don't need to have vanilla or warlords installed to play BTS. )

The main BTS folder is embedded in a higher level BTS folder. The higher level folder contains vanilla/warlords assets that make BTS standalone)

Ah ok thanks think its a bit late for me downloading the beta version? Wish I had asked this question before, thanks for your help. Wihat do you mean by executable please?

It's never too late to switch to the Beta version..ha. However, if you've jacked with anything you should do a fresh install.

Let me rephrase...you must use the Beta version if you want your stuff to be compatible with everyone else.

By executable I simply mean the file that starts the game.

If you mean install the VD mod or use it as part of a new mod..that should be fine. However, you may have a lot of issues running other mods if not in the Beta version.

To be clear here: Steam installs their version of the game with different assets that they applied to enable MP on their system. The Beta version is the original release that sets the game back to its original assets.

Thank you! So the Beta version is that downloadable from Steam?

Oh..Beta is simple. In Steam, right-click on BTS>Properties>Betas tab>Select Beta version. Steam will download new assets.
Again, if you've jacked with anything it is better to do a fresh install (uninstall in Steam and delete all files/folders in programs/my documents). If you haven't done anything though you should be fine. It's just that the Steam version is touchy.

I'm not a modder myself, so if you have detailed questions about modding with Steam probably best to ask in the mod forum. I mean I don't it would be any different really though.

So ive just downloaded the BTS beta version from Steam.

All the units have one unit instead of three?!

I have checked the XML and it says three in there, something is wrong?

Any advice please?

That is just a visual thing and is set by an option "Single Unit Graphics". I actually prefer seeing the single unit.

How do I know which version is BTS 3.19 please?

Is this the version available to buy on CD or do you have to download an upgrade?

Thank you.

Steam version is completely patched. Nothing you need to do.

From main menu select "Advanced" and "About This Build"

note: this is not a modding question

If you have general questions just use the same post you've been using over in General
