Hello. My wife and I have been playing BTS since it came out, but because we had only one computer, we couldn't play versus each other. Well, we bought a second computer, and want to tear each other's civilizations apart!
Problem is, I really don't feel like buying another game just to have a disc to run in the other computer. Is there some way to have two computers playing online (or via network cable) with only one CD?

Thanks!

Sorry I don't believe there is any proper/legal way to be playing it with only one disc. I think you will have to buy another copy for you both to play (legally)!

Bummer. Thanks for the answer, though!
Maybe I can find a cheap used copy online...

i think there is a program called alcohol 120% or something like that, which lets you do stuff without the cd, i have but never used it.

If you want to play local multiplayer, you only need one disc. It only checks to see if the disc is in when you first start the game. One of you starts the game until you get to the main menu, then just take the disc out and put it in the other computer. No fancy tricks, no special programs.

Awesome, thanks for the advice, that'd work fine.
Thanks for the tip, Hossam, but I have no idea whether or not that'd be illegal, and I really don't want to learn how to use a whole new software program just for this purpose. :)

I may be wrong, but can't you play on the same computer via hotseat, anyway?

look at *** this is an legal site wich offers patches for games to play without cd.

Guys, you're walking on thin ice here. Although that site may be legal in France, Russia or the jungles of south-east-asia - downloading the pathces and using them is not legal in the United States, Germany or other countries that have a copyright law similar to the US-DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act). I guess linking THAT page is a :shake: here, I wonder when this thread will be locked...

Start the game with the disc in, take it out and insert into the other computer and start the game there aswell. Works like a charm, and you violate less rules by doing so. (if that matters) :)

DMCA>fair use I'm afraid. But illegal doesn't mean immoral so I say "don't" use a no-CD patch.
