There are several freeware tools you could use for temperature monitoring, like GPU-z.

The manufacturer won't make a difference in principle.

As those cards are not using the reference design, they won't be identical though.
Most likely having different cooling solutions and maybe different output variants.
If you want to play it safe, you could wait for reviews before buying one.

One last question: if I get impatient and decide not to wait for the 7750 low profile to hit the market (because I have no idea if I'm looking at 4 weeks or 4 months), would this be a good 6670 to get?

I would rather suggest this one here, it appears to have a much more capable heat sink/fan.

I think I will wait for the 7750, especially since it appears to use less power than the 6670, which is so key for my 180W PSU

I've been googling daily for updates, but nothing so far. Do you know of a website that might have more info on its release date?
