When I started playing Civ at the chieftan level, the only way I could win was by simple domination or a histograph win. Now that I've advanced up to Monarch, it seems the only way I can usually win is militarily. Almost all of my wins at regent were military wins and the one monarch win was an early game elimination playing the Mayans. Therefore when I play now I usually pick a militaristic race and start saber rattling fairly early.

The one question I have is, so far I've been able to win by eliminating one city (not even the capital). That's kind of bogus. Is it possible to set the number of cities for an elimination victory? :wow: :dubious: :shakehead

With the Elimination Victory enabled, a civilization is always destroyed after one (any) city is captured. I have not found any way to increase the number of captured cities necessary to eliminate a civilization.

You might have to disable the elimination victory to avoid the problem.

In the second of the two startup screens when you customize your game there should be a button called 'game options' or something like that. Click it and you can set things such as the elimination count.

If that's what you are looking for you might be better off playing regicide, as the AI always keeps their king unit in the capital. That way taking the capital would kill the king and the civ.

Perhaps it would be better if you stuck with Regent until you can cope well with it rather than getting bogus wins on Monarch through elimination...

You can also change it in the editor under Scenario Properties.
