Leader / Lester B. Pearson

Civilization Trait / Hardy Communities

+2 Production and +2 Food from Tundra tiles..

Leader Trait / Social Programs

+1 Economic and +1 Wildcard Policy Slots

Unique unit / Mountie

Canadian unique Calvary Unit. Renowned to "always get their man", this far-reaching unit is able to track down adversaries by ignoring all terrain costs.

Unique Building / Hockey Arena

A building unique to Canada. Replaces the Stadium Building.

Citizens of all backgrounds become deeply impassioned with the good 'ol hockey game. Local teams encourage commerce in and between communities. The sport galvanizes the nation's farmers and craftsmen to work harder. Writers, artists, and musicians are inspired to produce great works. Hockey is considered a second religion in it's own right.

A city with a Hockey Arena receives bonuses to Culture, Gold, Food, Production, and Faith.

This is the first version of my Canada civilization mod.

The civ and leader bonuses help in the early stages of the game.

The Hockey Arena adds a massive bonus but it's so late in the game that it gives Canada a needed boost in the later eras. Hockey really starts to build this civ up.

Installation Instructions
Unzip the files into your Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Mods directory
In order for Art to work correctly, Unzip the contents of "Canada Icons" into
Program Files(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Sid Meier's CIVILIZATION VI/Base/Assets/UI/Icons and /ArtDefs respectively.

This will replace the current files to accommodate Canada's icons, so backing up your files is always recommended.

As I used DeadHerring's Persia mod as a learning tool I'd recommend copying the editted lines (I've commented them) if you have multiple civilization mods with artwork.

Credits
Mod formatting thanks DreadHerring (and inadvertantly to @Rob (R8XFT), @sukritact and @mbl) -- I've tried to comment a lot of my code to gives hints to other new modders.

---
Known Issues:
Loading screen uses Japan's icon as I could never get it to take Toronto or my added Canada icons. Stadium appears on 2D map but not 3D.

TODO: Add a TSL location and support YnAMP -- works properly on all random start locations.

I'm playing on a macbook; for some reason none of the icons (the maple leaf, or the hat for the mountie) are showing up; they're just appearing as question marks. In addition, despite Teddy Roosevelt showing as the leader while the game is loading, during the game my leader portrait in the top right is a question mark, and after winning a domination victory, after the victory movie, Gilgamesh was the leader shown on the victory splash screen.

Did you copy and paste the included artdef and icon files to their respective Civ base folders? This is method #1 but it will overwrite other modders doing the same thing.

If you are a bit savvy I recommend method #2.

Open my Canada artdef/icon files with a text editor.
I commented my changes in those files -- you can copy and paste to add those additions to your existing files artdef and icon files.

The contents of the Canada Icons archive should be copied into
.../Sid Meier's CIVILIZATION VI/Base/Assets/UI/Icons
The contents of the Canada Artdefs Archive should be copied into
.../Sid Meier's CIVILIZATION VI/Base/ArtDefs/

Ah no, I just extracted the entire mod folder to the MODS folder. Thanks for the heads up! :)

No worries! Also be sure to back up your original artdef/icons files. I've included base game folders of those files just in case!

Enjoy! If you have any feedback to the civ's balance please let me know!

With the extra Wild Card and Economic Card slot, seems a tad bit op to me... But that could be fun to play with. Anyway, downloading it and hoping I will enjoy it.

Did a Mod spotlight of this because I was so super excited to play as Canada! The integration into YnAMP was what did it for me though.

I did a little intro in how to install it, although I had a few issues with the Icons not showing up properly, it was most likely down to me having a metric ton of mods on my game.

Thanks for the Mod! It's great.

Here is the Spotlight:

With the new Australia update and YnAMP beta 2, the true start locations doesn't work no more, it says waiting for other players to go.

Also, you should put this on steam so it is easier to subscribe :D

Lots of fun and a bit OP, especially if there is a lot of tundra about. But perhaps that is just how the Canadians are ;).

Please update to the latest version.

Some constructive criticism:

Civilization Trait / Hardy Communities

+2 Production and +2 Food from Tundra tiles..

This is extremely bland and fairly overpowered- with a hill, it's 2/3.

Boring and OP is never a good combination. Instead, make something out of tundra that's more than just flat boosts to stuff. You could do things with adjacency bonuses, for example, or culture, or housing.

Leader Trait / Social Programs

+1 Economic and +1 Wildcard Policy Slots

Again, OP and boring. Econ slots are huge boosts by themselves and the extra wildcard means you can play all four initial policy cards.

Unique unit / Mountie

Canadian unique Calvary Unit. Renowned to "always get their man", this far-reaching unit is able to track down adversaries by ignoring all terrain costs.

With movement being the biggest asset to a military unit, ignoring all terrain on the fastest moving units is not a good idea. Again, boring and OP.

Unique Building / Hockey Arena

A building unique to Canada. Replaces the Stadium Building.

You mention that it boosts everything, but by how much? How so? Again, this is a relatively bland ability.

Seriously give your head a shake, http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/careers Go ahead and tell them they don't exist or are not real. Please don't talk about the country you live in if you're clueless about what's actually in it.

I see this mod works with the YnAMP, but do you actually need it to play? I generally don't download the map mods. There was a mod for Civ 5 that used Lester B. Pearson, not sure how compatible .lua files are as I'm not a modder, but perhaps the artwork used on that mod could be of some help to you?

The issues don't seem to be a major issue to gameplay, so I might consider installing this and giving it a shot. I'll reserve any other comments or suggestions until that time.

cheers
