This is not adviseable on higher levels as you lose control of when to renegotiate. Remember that sometimes if you leave a deal alone it will continue but if you renegotiate they will want more! So basically you often get screwed if you turn on 'Always Renegotiate'.
I prefer to chose when to renegotiate.
Err, I'm sorry, I fail to see why. I always use it at Emperor or Deity and have no problems...I ALWAYS play with the renegotiation activated.
The pop-up appears and grants you the
option to renegotiate or not. You can just hit the button that you agree to continue things as they are now, and will remain the same for the next 20n turns. You have an option to choose, that's all, you're always on full control.
As a matter of fact, my experience has been the contrary. Many times If you renegotiate after 20 turns they will be willing to pay you LESS, so it's better to leave the deal standing as it is and they will continue to pay you HIGHER that If you actually renegotiated the deal again. It takes practice to know when you ought to renegotiate a deal after 20 turns and when you should just hit the o.k. continue as it is deal without any renegotiation.
They will ask for more gpt in the renegotiation If you add on more luxuries to your Empire in those 20 turns, besides other reasons.
Having "the always renegotiate" tab enabled also allows you always to choose when to renegotiate, it gives you an option to do it, so it doesn't force you to sit down and change deals at all.
