I noticed like a lot of times when I make a MPP deal with the AI or a MA it says I can cancel it peacefully after 20 turns. How do you cancel it after 20 turns? I have never found a button or anything? If the AI doesnt cancel the deal how can you?

Just visit him again, and at the bottom of the "deal" screen is an "active" button. Click on it and you active deals are shown. From that point, you can then click on the "expired" deals. Then you can hit "clear table" or click them off one at a time.

Oh alright. Thanks. Been playing for like two years and never saw that...

Also on the upper left-hand corner you'll see an options tab. Press on it and select that you always want to renegotiate deals after they expire.

In this manner, after 20 turns have gone by, a pop-up window will appear in the interturn after 2o turns asking you if you want to continue with the deal or not. You can even renegotiate the terms of the deal, asking for more or less gpt. For example with a ROP if your land has become larger after those 20 turns (i.e. via conquest) you can ask for more gpt If you're larger than them in size or pay less if being smaller in territory than them you still have grown in size in the said 20 turns.

Hmmmmm....don't know that one.

I should start playing with "auto-negotiate" off, as I have begun paying a lot more attention to my active deals now that they added that nice "Details" tab on the Foreign Advisor screen. Most deals I would probably like to continue, but some I prefer to end, escpecially if I plan to make war with that civ - I don't want to "accidentally" have it automatically re-negotiated - like if I just missed checking the Details or something. That could prove very irritating.

It does renegotiate peace treaties, if you had the AI giving you gpt.

This is not adviseable on higher levels as you lose control of when to renegotiate. Remember that sometimes if you leave a deal alone it will continue but if you renegotiate they will want more! So basically you often get screwed if you turn on 'Always Renegotiate'.

I prefer to chose when to renegotiate.

Err, I'm sorry, I fail to see why. I always use it at Emperor or Deity and have no problems...I ALWAYS play with the renegotiation activated.

The pop-up appears and grants you the option to renegotiate or not. You can just hit the button that you agree to continue things as they are now, and will remain the same for the next 20n turns. You have an option to choose, that's all, you're always on full control.

As a matter of fact, my experience has been the contrary. Many times If you renegotiate after 20 turns they will be willing to pay you LESS, so it's better to leave the deal standing as it is and they will continue to pay you HIGHER that If you actually renegotiated the deal again. It takes practice to know when you ought to renegotiate a deal after 20 turns and when you should just hit the o.k. continue as it is deal without any renegotiation.

They will ask for more gpt in the renegotiation If you add on more luxuries to your Empire in those 20 turns, besides other reasons.

Having "the always renegotiate" tab enabled also allows you always to choose when to renegotiate, it gives you an option to do it, so it doesn't force you to sit down and change deals at all.
